Adriana Castaneda, 38, was reported missing March 7 after she was last seen a few days earlier on March 4, Athens-Clarke County Police and WSB-TV reported. Authorities located her body at about 10:45 a.m. March 21 in the woods near Maple Forge Drive and Lavender Road in Athens, according to a news release.

"The body was found not far from a house at 110 Maple Forge Drive that is owned by a man that Castañeda was said to have been dating. That man reportedly left the country for Mexico at about the time of the events.

The level of apparent interest by police concerning the house had neighbors buzzing about carpeting being removed from the residence, and they reported that police were in the house most of the day that Castañeda’s body was found, as well as the following day."
Mystery shrouds death of Athens woman

"“Castañeda’s death has not been ruled a homicide, it is just being investigated as one,” said Lt. David Norris, a supervisor in the Athens-Clarke County Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division. “There was a loss of life and until the manner of death is clearly determined we will devote resources to its investigation and resolution the same as a criminal homicide investigation.”

After Castañeda’s body was found on March 21, investigators obtained warrants for the arrest of 51-year-old Javier Carbajal-Soto on charges of concealing the death of another and tampering with evidence."
Police seek to arrest boyfriend in probe of Athens woman's death

I am not sure how to see if Carbajal has actually been arrested since the time this was published in October but it sounds like there was just a warrant at the time.. if he were still in Mexico would they extradite him to the US or is that only done with specific charges and more public cases?

Arrest made.
