I think it is interesting that the headline states "death" when in reality what happened to Mr. Floyd was murder. He was murdered. He was killed. The word "death" dulls the point. Just as in Mr. Arbery's case, key words are used to dull the point. The point must stop being dulled or these men (and women, far fewer in numbers) will continue to be killed in barbaric and increasingly sneaky ways so the perpetrators can be absolved. If there was no video of either of these cases, there would be no arrests and the calls from many would be about bad actions and not following the directions of authorities.

I couldn't agree more.

was very concerned about trespassers on the property, but he evidently never reported the alleged theft of 2K worth of fishing gear from that same property to either the police or insurance. Thi

Mr. English was very clear that he had no idea where the 2K of fishing gear was stolen from, but that it was stolen while being transported from the Satillo house to the house he was living in, a few hours away.

E also apparently states that though he may of talked to the MMs, he never uhmm...."truly continued" the conversation if MM raised the subjects of trespassers / thefts.

Color me cynical cinammon, but I strongly suspect the current fuzziness on the 2K theft and the philosophical musings about what it means to really converse with someone about something are both part of E's re-casting himself away from an attitude of:

"Things are getting crazy at my place.... might be time to get ready for anything"
to..... "Completely un-informed, bewildered and shocked".

I believe that many in this neighborhood with this crime on the books are doing the same kind of "philosophical musings" but the apps they were using and communicating through won't erase the original thinking process. JMHO.

It's hard to back peddle when everything that goes out onto the internet is permanent.

Attorney for William Bryan files two court motions: One asks DA to provide copy of all search warrants.
Second motion asks DA to enter a non-disclosure agreement with Arbery’s family to prevent facts of case from being reported in the media
Motion wants Arbery family members to be declared “defacto parties” in the case.

Roddy's attorney doesn't seem to have a very firm grasp of constitutional rights and law, particularly as relates to freedom of speech.

Asking a court to gag AA family spokespersons is bad enough. Asking the court to force family members to sign non-disclosure agreements is as insulting as it is absurd.

Considering that the only reason there even is a case (cases) is because the facts were discussed publicly and with media and the resulting pressure from media etc., why on earth would the family enter into any kind of confidentiality agreement? If I were the family there is no way I would put trust in the DA’s office to ensure justice is served.

Seriously, a defense attorney asking the court to force a victim to sign such a thing is....absurd, legally and in every other way.

I think what's going on is legal strategy related to GA's new Marsy's law. He's making the point that the law permits the victim (AA's family) all the rights of a party to legal proceedings, but doesn't allow the court to treat the victim as a party (and thus be subjected to court orders, especially, in this case, to orders relating to pre-trial publicity).

I agree completely.

In the press conference, the GBI director stated that the arrest of W was based on social media transcripts that clearly indicated that he was an active participant in the confrontation of AA, and not a witness, nor had he impulsively joined the chase.

The GBI director also said that the investigators needed to differentiate between criminal conduct and "head up rear" conduct. He could well of been talking about inflammatory social media comments made by others who then did not participate.

Likewise, there could of been comments made by others who did participate to some degree- but stopped short of 'Party to' criminal conduct.

Lawyer: Requests denied for full personnel file of former DA investigator involved in Ahmaud Arbery killing
Arbery family attorneys also want feds to take closer look at text message

Her family’s attorney said Glynn County Police and the District Attorney’s Office also won’t release the full employment file for the suspect in the murder, Greg McMichael, who used to work in the DA’s office.

[snip]

Attorneys for Ahmaud Arbery’s family said it was clear some neighbors were hunting for someone the day of the deadly shooting. He said Facebook messages between neighbors should be a part of the federal investigation into the case.

[snip]

“I can say the Glynn County PD, as well as the Glynn County District Attorney’s Office are taking extraordinary measures to ensure that his file is not completely released yet,” Merritt said. “We have filed open records requests, FOIA, trying to get a copy of his file so we can do an appropriate dig into one of the key men involved in the death of Ahmaud Arbery and those requests have been denied."

Commissioner: Officer did not deputize anyone to watch a property in Satilla Shores

Murphy said Rash did not deputize anyone to watch a property. He spoke about the case leading up to the release of the videotape.

“What scares me the most is had there not been that delay, where District Attorney Barnhill finally recused himself, and the video tape was released, this may have been completely swept under the rug, and there would have been absolutely no justice," Murphy said. “That’s what scares me.”

“The arrests are only a part of the investigation. There’s a lot more work to be done. A lot of work has been done,” said Scott Dutton, head of the GBI’s investigative division. “(We’re doing a) reexamination of the crime scene, the location itself, capturing video, reviewing interviews and going over statements.”

[snip]

“We are basically digitally mapping this neighborhood,” said Bryan Smith, assistant special agent in charge of the GBI’s Americus office. “We’re using what is commercially used as surveyors’ equipment to digitally and photographically memorialize the scene. It actually captures billions of data points.”

[snip]

“We’ve pulled resources from across the state to bring in their subject matter expertise,” Dutton told Winne.

GBI's "head up rear" comment definitely referred to Robert Lee Rash.

Attorney for man who filmed Arbery killing: ‘No precedent’ for client’s arrest

From the glimpse of the neighborhood's FB page made public, looks like there may have been at least a half dozen or so would-be vigilantes eager to "catch" that UBM in E's videos.

Posting about wanting to have a trespasser caught, though, or even, without any evidence, attributing every crime or disturbance in the hood to that single UBM may be a lot of things, but criminal isn't remotely one of them.

What might come close but not cross the line would be if, say, Perez posted on SM that he agreed with the MMs that next time they tried to "catch" the UBM they wouldn't call LE, because the UBM was "fast," "knew the neighborhood real good," and LE took too long to respond. But.....didn't play any part (other than to raise the alarm) in hunting down or killing AA.

Motions take time, which in turn generate more billing for the attorney. Whether or nor they get granted or are needed are not important to these attorneys- billing is.

My amateur opinion is that the only hope for W is to advance a theory that while W made some uhmmm…. "badly worded" social media comments, he truly believed GM had police authority.

Thus, he thought he was assisting a police officer when he joined the chase. He then very quickly quit assisting when he saw the MMs needlessly escalating the confrontation.

So, I would use any funds from W to get disclosures on any SM posts detailing that Nash "re-deputized" GM, or posts where GM stated he had police authority- or even implied that he did.
