Well this is an odd one:

Wife finds body of husband in basement of Athens home after missing for month

Summary:

Williams’ wife reported finding the body about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday while she taking a bicycle into the basement. She reported that they'd had an argument a month ago and the next day she realized he was gone. She figured he left her for good and she "went about her life." A buzz saw was found next to the body and appeared to have been damaged by fire. This remains under investigation and an autopsy has been ordered.

• April 9th, afternoon - Joylynn Arnold reported to police that she discovered her husband deceased and decomposing in the basement of their home
• Responding officers found 44-year-old Frank Perry Williams facedown in the laundry room, his body in an advanced state of decomposition.
• Next to his feet was broken, mildewed dry wall and a weed whacker. Next to his left thigh was a box of trash and next to his head was a buzz saw.
• Frank’s skin looked burnt around his neck and upper back
• The buzz saw next to him was blackened by what looked to be a fire
• The article describes how she began to smell something a week prior to calling 911

I did react to the laundry room too and I want to know if it was the only one. If the husband did dirty, greasy repairs in the basement maybe he used what we in Sweden call grovtvättstuga, google translated it as rough laundry room

She had to. I had either a rat or a mouse die in my crawlspace once long ago and ho boy was it stinkipoos.

As the smell persisted, the woman assumed that it was caused by mold growth but she avoided investigating because she said the staircase was broken and unsafe.
Then on the day she called police, Arnold brought in a bicycle from the yard and while struggling with it on the staircase when the bike fell to the bottom. Going down after it, Arnold said, she turned and saw her husband’s body, then immediately called 911.
During her conversation with Officer Sullivan, the 56-year-old woman admitted that she and Williams occasionally had domestic incidents, and once she kicked in a door when he looked her out.
