Forest Park police said Victor Demetrious Baymon, 33, was arrested after a brief pursuit in Cobb County. He is in “critical but stable” condition and will later be taken to Clayton County Jail.
The incident started around 10:30 a.m. in Forest Park, when officers were called to an “active shooting incident.” Schools and city buildings were placed on lockdown during the manhunt.
Police say Baymon is accused of following his ex-girlfriend to the Twin Pic convenience store on West Street, where she was reportedly having her taxes prepared. Investigators say Baymon was armed with a rifle and opened fire, killing the tax worker and shooting and injuring a customer.

Officials have released the mugshot of the suspect from when he was arrested in 2017. He was arrested after slamming a U-Haul truck into a police cruiser in April 2017. He had also been accused of killing a woman in the 100 block of Black Forest Trail in Stockbridge earlier that month.
