PIKE COUNTY, Ga. (TCD) -- Two caretakers are in custody after deputies located a disabled man deceased in the basement of their home last month.

According to a news release from the Pike County Sheriff's Office, on May 19, deputies responded to 681 Whitfield Walk to a report of an unresponsive person, where they found 40-year-old Dennis Robertson dead in the basement.
Robertson was reportedly handicapped, "required special care for his condition," and was "unable to take care of himself on a daily basis."
The Sheriff's Office observed the inside of the home was "extremely filthy and unkept."
