Chris McKoy hasn’t been seen since he sent his mother a text on Jan. 7.

“He had told me he had a panic attack and he crashed his car,’ his mother told Jones. He said someone needed to pick up his son from school.

The family says police told them cameras picked up his 2013 Ford Fiesta on Beaver Ruin Road in Gwinnett County the day he disappeared.

Chris McKoy is described as 6-foot-1, 175 pounds

Gwinnett County police found Chris McKoy’s 2013 White Ford Fiesta near Beaver Ruin Road on Thursday afternoon. That is the area where cameras last picked up his car. McKoy’s family said the car had a flat tire that made it hard for investigators to find it.

Earlier this week, Christopher's car, a white Ford Fiesta, was found in Norcross. His family said he had been driving for a rideshare service and had crashed his car on the day that he disappeared.

His family said he texted them saying he couldn't pick his son up from school and he seemed to be in distress.

LILBURN, Ga. - The family of Chris McKoy, a 34-year-old father from Douglas County, has been tirelessly searching for him after he went missing following a car accident.

  • Chris McKoy, a 34-year-old father, went missing after a car accident in Douglas County, with his last known location being Beaver Ruin Road in Gwinnett County.
  • McKoy's family and friends are actively searching the metro Atlanta area, focusing on Lilburn, where a disoriented man matching his description was reportedly seen.
  • The family is working with police to review surveillance footage and is seeking help from the public to find McKoy and his vehicle.

The incident began last Tuesday afternoon when McKoy's mother, Jackie McKoy, received a text from her son indicating he couldn't pick up his child and that his ex-wife should do so instead. "He had a panic attack and crashed his car," explained his father, Bernard McKoy. McKoy's white 2013 Ford Fiesta was last seen on Beaver Ruin Road in Gwinnett County.

Chris McKoy is described as 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, and is a devoted father to his 9-year-old son. His family and friends have been actively searching metro Atlanta, particularly focusing on the Lilburn area in Gwinnett County, where a woman reported seeing a disoriented man matching McKoy's description last Saturday.

"She said he was freezing and gave him a black coat," Bernard McKoy recounted. "He had a yellow blanket, his eye was swollen pretty bad, and he seemed delirious." The family is collaborating with police to review surveillance footage to confirm whether the man was McKoy
[and are also searching for his vehicle, which could provide crucial information --vehicle has since been found].

The McKoy family is united in their hope and determination to find Chris. "I want to know what happened," said Jackie McKoy. Bernard McKoy expressed his deep desire for his son's safe return, stating, "I want my son home. That’s all I’m saying. I want my son home." Despite the challenging circumstances, the family remains steadfast in their faith. "I trust and believe God is going to send our son home safe," Bernard McKoy added. "But we need your help."

I can't be certain it's the missing man as there are no photos related and we don't have a middle name but I did find a couple of charges for driving on a revoked license for someone with that name (middle name Warren). None are very recent and both were downgraded to lesser charges, so no red flags there, in my opinion.

Be Advised: There's another Christopher McCoy in Namus who went missing many years ago in Florida. All the missing articles I pulled up on my initial search were for that Christopher (middle Initial J.)

There are two threads up for Chris - I alerted the person who started the other one, so hopefully a mod can merge these. You had a lot of good new information. Thanks!

RS&BBM - Wait, what? How would a car having a flat tire make it hard for investigators to find? Probably poor reporting but, that statement just seems really odd to me.

I did not understand that, either. I have run through a lot of possible scenarios in my head and I can't come up with even one that makes that statement make sense.

I'm wondering if the car was found off the road with a flat, in a ditch, maybe? Even if that was the extent of the damage, I could see someone being startled by a tire blowing out, swerving off the road and considering that a crash.

The family of a missing Douglas County man says it has been extorted, and the incident is under investigation by authorities.

His father believes someone used the telephone number on the missing person flyer to contact him with a demand for $10,000 for information about his son.

"He ( the caller) said, 'You don't know what your son is into. If you want to see your son again,' he wants $10,000," Bernard McKoy said. "I don't have $10,000."
