On Wednesday, September 20, 2006, at approximately 11:17 a.m., the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting incident at Jon’s SportPark on Thompson Drive in Douglas, Georgia. Deputies arrived on the scene and found the body of Doris Worrell, age 39, at the scene. She was the victim of an apparent gunshot.

Jon Worrell, the husband of the victim and manager of Jon’s SportPark, left the business at approximately 9:40 a.m. to run errands. His wife remained on the premises engaged in cleaning the business. When her husband returned at approximately 11:15 a.m., he found his wife’s body.

No one has ever been charged with the murder. There has never been a trial. There have, however, been two arrests that went nowhere. But that doesn’t mean matters surrounding the case have been quiet. In fact, quite a bit has happened since that tragic day in 2006...

After Doris’s death, rumors began circulating about possible trouble in the Worrells’ marriage. They appeared to be the perfect couple. That may not have been the case after all...

Another central figure in the case was Paola Yarberry herself. While it was obvious she didn’t pull the trigger – she was seen on video at the time of the shooting – many people believed that she knew a lot more than she was saying. ..

In 2008, Jon Worrell and his children moved to Costa Rica. Interestingly, so did Paola Yarberry. Today, Worrell and Yarberry live together in that country, where they operate several businesses.

Costa Rica has no extradition treaty with the United States.

Nine years ago, investigators had a primary suspect in the Doris Worrell murder; has the focus of the investigation changed?

Surely the Kids have questions about what really happened. Why did Dad take up with Na ny,after Their beautiful loving Mom was murdered. Who is she really anyway. No papers, '15' years old. I bet the aunt kicked her out with good reason, if there even was an aunt in the first place. Wonder how long it will be before someone younger than her comes along, and they turn on each other.
