The Crawford County sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help with finding an adult who reportedly has not been seen since he walked away early Monday morning from an assisted living facility.

Another resident at Tall Pines Assisted Living reported seeing Emanuel Smith walk away from the Whitaker Road facility 1 a.m. Monday, according to a Tuesday night news release from the sheriff’s office.

Smith is described as a black male about 5 feet 5 inches tall and 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark colored hoodie, a dark colored skull cap and dark colored pants. He walks with a silver cane, the news release said.

The 55-year-old was identified Wednesday after he showed up at someone’s house on U.S. 80, about three miles from the facility.

Smith had minor scratches and was taken to a hospital to be checked out, according to a news release from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
