Circumstances of Disappearance
Francis was employed in the administrative offices of Six Flags over Georgia in a fulltime position. She was living with her parents in Carroll Co. Georgia at the time of her disappearance. She drove her parent's car to work on this day and mentioned that she may spend the night with a co-worker. Therefore, her parents did not become alarmed until the following evening when she failed to return from work and did not contact them.
From that point on there has never been contact or a sighting. Her parent's car was found at the then Holiday Inn on Fulton Ind. Dr about 5 days later.

Can anyone find more information about Frances' case?

What a tragedy for her family.

I wonder what the police-reports say about any statements from her coworkers / friends and if anyone at the hotel (where her car was found) remembered her checking- in.

I wasn't able to find anything else but assume she was never located since her profile is still on NamUs...

I can't find any other info about her case either, nor can I find her in a yearbook on classmates. Interesting that she disappeared on Valentine's Day - maybe she was romantically involved with this coworker?

Finding information on this case or Frances herself is a huge challenge. She was living with her parents in Carroll County and was working at Six Flags corporate in Austell, which is technically in two counties, Douglas and Cobb--the theme park is in unincorporated Cobb. There is also a make-up brand, Frances Denney, which dominates results in newspaper.com. I was also not able to figure out where the Holiday Inn was located on Fulton Industrial, although parts of that road are very close to Six Flags, and it would make sense to have a hotel near the theme park.

I struck out with Cobb, Carroll, and Douglas County court records, but lucked out and found her divorce in Fulton County records. This is where things are a little weird--it was filed on 11/18/1974, nine months after she disappeared, with her listed as the plaintiff. Type was listed as "contested," and events/orders of the court are "conversion" on the same day. The status was changed to "conversion" and "dismissal" on 4/11/77. Her spouse was listed as Kenneth R. Curfman. There are two people by that name in the Atlanta area, a junior and senior--I would guess that this is junior, assuming he was closer in age to Frances. Not to sleuth, but I sifted through some records in Dekalb and Gwinnett counties, and while old records are hard to decipher, nothing super interesting there.

If she was living with her parents, I would assume they were separated at the time of her disappearance, but apparently neither had yet filed for divorce. I also can't tell if the divorce is based on her being gone/already separated, or if there are issues with her reported missing date.

Classmates.com is down right now, but when it's back, assuming her parents were still living in Carroll County when Frances was in high school, Carrollton High School, Mount Zion, and Central High School would have been possible schools she would have attended.

If Frances went by “Fran” this may be her mother’s obituary as she was mentioned as a surviving daughter under the name Mrs. Fran Denney Curfman. Obituary is dated 12/6/75.

Frances was living with her parents at the time in Carroll County which is where Villa Rica, GA is located. This was only about 17 miles to where she worked in Austell.
