Portia Wheeler, 37, was last seen on Dec. 1 and reported missing on Dec. 4. Wheeler’s last known whereabouts were the 6000 block of Shadybrook Trail at about 6 p.m. Her clothing description is unknown.

The Columbus Police Department says Portia Wheeler is considered critically missing as of Tuesday.

Police noted Wheeler sometimes goes by her former last name — Sales.

yes, five minutes by car, I get it. My point is do they know she arrived back home on Shadybrook from the friend's house? Trying to observe TOS and not throw shade at her friend if you follow me. She either was last seen leaving her friends or she was last know to be five minutes away at home. Can't be both if you follow.

Also Phenix City is the correct spelling. Not sure how to get that corrected?

Right. I'm not sure what prompted authorities to search that area, one would assume it is because it was the last place she was seen aka her friends house.
Maybe le knows more than what is being reported. I do find it a bit curious they say she might go by her married name. Why mention that? Seems like the family might've been instructed on what they could say to media? Or maybe they don't know much or aren't saying what's really on their minds to media My own opinion.

Wheeler is believed to be driving a blue Honda Odyssey with an Alabama tag of #A2PPRE.

According to an article from WSB-TV, the family hired an Atlanta-area private investigator since the search began.

While the investigation by the Columbus Police Department’s Special Victims Unit has been ongoing, tips have been sent in which led to a multi-agency search, involving the Columbus Police Department, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Muscogee County School District Police Department K9, on Wednesday afternoon.

The search took place in a wooded area off Lee Road 236 near the Mallard Creek subdivision in the Phenix City area of Lee County. Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones confirmed his deputies assisted in the search where a van was located.

‘It was reportedly last occupied by a missing female from Columbus,” Sheriff Jones said. Nothing was located during the search.

She had a minor speeding ticket in 2022 in her home county, not noteworthy, but it was noted she was using the last name Wheeler at the time. No county records of any kind for her under the last name "Sales". Muscogee Count Clerk of Superior Court | Courts
