UPSON COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) -- Multiple agencies including the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are looking for a missing Thomaston man.

Thomaston police 44-year-old Stanley Steverson's family reported him missing around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

He was last seen around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night at Walmart, driving his blue 2012 Ford pickup. The truck has a Georgia tag reading TAF9720 and large white magnets on each door advertising his "Fresh and Clean Detailing" car detailing business.

Sometime after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Steverson didn't show up for work later that night at his full-time job in McDonough.

Neither his wife nor his family members have seen or heard from him since.

But on Wednesday morning, authorities located Steverson's pickup truck abandoned near a pond on Willingham Springs Rd. Its tag and the magnets had been removed.

Police say they have conducted "an exhaustive search" around that area with the help of the Upson County Sheriff's Office and Georgia K9 SAR teams.

These agencies along with the GBI are now jointly working on this investigation.

Thomaston police say Steverson went missing under what they believe to be "suspicious circumstances."

Steverson is 5'11" and weighs 155 pounds. Police say he often wears a silver chain bearing a cross pendant.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or Thomaston police at 706-741-0926.

UPSON COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) - A man reported missing in Upson County is dead, along with the man investigators say killed him.

In a post to the department's Facebook Page, Upson County Sheriff Dan Kilgore says the investigation into a missing man ended in a murder-suicide.

Stanley Steverson was reported missing on June 8, 2022. Steverson's truck was later found and impounded the same day in northern Upson County. Through their investigation, Kilgore says it was determined Steverson was the victim of a homicide on Rose Hill Drive.

Warrants were obtained for Demonte Terrell Davis after investigators determined Davis was involved in Steverson's death. Detectives were able to get Davis on the phone Sunday and arranged for him to surrender to law enforcement at the Ingles grocery store in Griffin. Family members escorted Davis to the store. As he was getting out of the car, Kilgore says Davis shot and killed himself.

Steverson's body has not been found.

Davis' wife, Amber Smith Davis, has been arrested and charged with concealing a death.
