Horrible, isn't it? There was a another case in the news fairly recently where the accused tried to claim a similar defense. It was ridiculous reading about the trial and the accused's indignation. You should have seen his prior driving offenses.

Zakar Yasharahla, 38, pleaded guilty this week to a misdemeanor charge of involuntary manslaughter. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Michael Johnson sentenced him Monday to a year of probation and 250 hours of community service.

Eyewitnesses testified at a pretrial hearing that the alleged victim attacked Yasharahla. Defense attorney Noah Pines said Yasharahla acted in self-defense against an assailant, Tony Newberry, who was both drunk and high on marijuana, according to autopsy results.
