Rico Krieger, 30, a German combat medic, has been sentenced to death by firing squad by the Belarus authorities. Belarus is the only European country that actively use capital punishment today. The trial against RK has been kept very secret, and it's not entirely clear what he's been accused of. The case may be linked to Belarusian volunteer fighters fighting on Ukraine's side against Russia, as the Belarus government supports Russia in the war. So, it's not clear if this has been a "political trial and sentence", or if the actions of RK has been tried and sentenced for would have been considered as criminal avtivity in an unbiased court.

Verurteilter Rico Krieger kommt aus Belarus frei
