I think RH's plan was to burn down the LI house and move to SC.

For insurance money, he used external help for repair.

This thought crossed my mind as well. For insurance money among other possible reasons.

As for Heuermann, he said, “He’s going to be accused of murdering the fourth one. That’s almost a given. And from there, they’re going to go on to working at these other six victims and even beyond them beyond that.”

Aha. Makes sense. Good thinking.

This is a really informative! Makes me really curious to how they'll justify taking things like the mirror or fire extinguishers. Also makes me realize that we the public really don't know anything.

Something silly: Prof. Jules Epstein kept referring to LE being able to collect items in "plain view". My insomniac brain was like "What's in Plainview?!" (It's a town on LI just north of RH/Massapequa).

I've seen interviews with Jules Epstein before. I wish I could sit-in on a Jules Epstein class... his "lawspeak" explanations are wonderful.

Also, you really need a dog if you're duck hunting. I've been on several duck hunts and a good water dog is essential (retrieving the ducks from the water that they are shot over). So either he had a dog at one point and hadn't duck hunted for years (used it as a guise to hide his real intentions) or he hunted with a friend who had a dog. I thought I read somewhere he shared a boat with someone, so maybe that person had the dog? Plus, hunting can be pretty hard work. You have to tramp through a lot of rough terrain to get to your duck blind. Duck hunting isn't as physically challenging as pheasant or deer hunting, but still, he doesn't look like he did a lot walking...
i heard somewhere, don’t know if it was reddit or here, that his son had just got a puppy. maybe they had one that recently passed ?

it’s surprisingly difficult to purposely burn down a building and leave no evidence. if he did this, it probably would’ve lead to him being caught anyway.

Yes. Gacy's crime scene was crazy. It was in the news for weeks, months. I was traveling on business in the Chicago area about a month after his arrest, The local rep who was driving me around took us past Gacy's house. There wasn't much left at that point, they had found most of the bodies by then. It was a surreal fall and winter, between Jim Jones in November and John Wayne Gacy making news around Christmas. The late 70's were harsh.
I grew up in DesPlaines. He used to cruise our town for boys. Some of the missing came from the school my Mother was employed at. They totally had to take that house apart to get to that crawl space. That was a true nightmare for those that had to clean up.

And I'm sorta laughing, thinking of how many firefighters lived on that block (as reported at link above).

Edited to add: I'm not laughing at the idea of arson, which I think might be possible, but at the thought of starting a fire in a neighborhood of firefighers.

What in the heck am I seeing here. Looks like the belt has been altered using the clone tool in photoshop. Why.

From the search warrant executed at Craig Heuermann's property in South Carolina:

"Potential instruments used in the homicides that investigators sought included cell phones, condoms, cut distal ends of black leather belts, devices that stamp letters on leather, knives, scissors, cutting instruments, and Bounty paper towels."

Edited to add: We've been wondering about RH's travels. <modsnip>

maybe blood was on it and it was obscured for the public? It does look odd.

It’s interesting to me that they were all positioned facing East, and his home on LI is East (Northeast) of AC.

Maybe it was a clue, taunting the police?

The guy is kinda huge and ruthless. Anyway, no way to know.

I just hope the guy feels fear at some point. Karma, baby.

I absolutely do not like blaming everything on parenting (nor am I suggesting sleuthing family!) However, I have to wonder a bit about his childhood. What caused his WWII vet father's death at a "relatively" young age, and did mom stay home and raise her sons? (And, of course, there's my age-old question... What causes/creates and fuels sadistic torture and killing? I don't think I'll ever understand.)

Agree. The fire theory is a bit out there for me. Nothing would bring more attention to you then setting a place in a suburban neighborhood

I think a lot about what that house dynamic must have been like during RH and CH childhood. It’s curious to me that no one who knew him as a child has come forward. His father died at a pivotal age (RH was 11). It seems that RH idolized his father, took after his wood working hobbies etc. His hatred for women could have simply arose after his fathers death, having to take orders from his mother. Curious if any animal torture/bed wetting/arson came into play in his youth which are tremendous red flags

They were not. One was asphyxiated, one was killed by ligature strangulation, the other two the method of killing was unable to be determined due to decomposition.

MOO

as with Gilgo he would perhaps find a spot and use that spot for 4 of his victims...rather than chose another spot.
there are so many reasons this could be..I am not hanging my hat on different signatures etc..I think it could all be him..
he has had years to operate on the seaboard and elsewhere.

Macedonio said Ellerup was told to leave the couple's home with only the clothes on her back and has not been permitted to return as investigators continue searching the residence. Investigators have seized all electronics in the house including those belonging to her and the two adult children. They've also seized her car, which had been parked at the couple's Long Island home.

Macedonio tells CBS News that Ellerup's passport was not seized, but that she does not have access to it as it remains inside the home.

I'm sure it's to make sure 100% she doesn't leave during the investigation. They need her to question right?

When the house is emptied, any luminal tests will be very interesting.

Since they removed items like a guitar, frames, and trash these items lit up with blood splatter. Just MOO.

I agree. The more that comes out, especially RH disturbing web searches is showing us that this monster is all inclusive with his sexual deviancy. He was into EVERYTHING.
