Just trying to put that at the top of page. It is a page about RH, but this is for charity of victims left in his aftermath.

This.

No stretch to imagine that he controlled how others moved within the home. Rooms no one was allowed into. I know of such a situation. No serial killing but inherited home, hoarding, serious social/mental dysfunctioning. The original parents' (notably the mother's) bedroom, maintained, almost like a shrine, no one allowed in. An office, walled in by stacks of newspapers and magazines, another room into which no one dared to go. Whole house in disrepair, rife with a million unfinished projects. And the argument: yes, I'll get to it but I don't have unlimited time. I work hard to provide for you.

Subtext: don't question me, don't make demands. Learn to live with it. Learn your place.

For them: good morning, Cognitive Dissonance. Hello, Powerlessness and Resignation.

IMO you're right. The whole house was his binky, his comfort zone. In the state it was. Don't wash his binky, don't fix his binky, don't touch his binky, don't question his binky.

Yikes.

it's a pretty small house - I don't think they had any extra rooms - they would need at least 3 bedrooms and it's one floor aside from the basement dungeon ... BUT it wouldn't surprise me if his basement lair was off limits to the family

Partially agree with your post. ;) Although there's no comparison to what victim Ms. is going through compared to others in the neighborhood who may be experiencing another type of hardship - where would the grocery store draw the line? If you assist one - you should assist all, imo.

Victim Ms. should not have to isolate because of her husband's actions. I get that we are a curious society and media no respect for boundaries.

moo

the rest of the street has freedom to do their errands without being hounded IMO

That fund raiser needs to happen, they need to hire a skip and buy some new things with the proceeds of the funding.

it seems very obvious that she has no money of her own at all.
I'm mentally adding slavery to his list of crimes, he probably controlled every cent.
i think it's right she reclaims her home, her social structures and whatever help she receives for her son, if any are in proximity to that address.

She talks about her 3000$ greenhouse. not an awful lot of money but huge to her.. it would be great if neighbours bought her a new one and got her some plants to start over... she needs that contact with plants, it seems.

She again, demonstrates great love for her children.
She improvises well, she didn't lie down and die, she sorted makeshift beds..
they are together and together they will be able to face it.

She's no longer angry at the media, saving her energy for her priorities, existence.
i wish her the best and that she regains her strength and will to move forward and I think it's likely she is motivated to do that now, if not for herself, for her children.

It's early days yet however.

I continue to hope she will not relent and go visit him because she will lose all public support, if she has any, if she weakens in that regard, she will also lose herself and right now she is all she has.

Forward Sister!

<modsnip - quoted post was removed>

Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said while there were many things taken from the dilapidated and cluttered home — including many guns stored in a basement vault — there wasn't any key piece of evidence found.

"I think everyone wanted that singular piece of evidence but I don’t think there’s any one thing that jumps out at us at this juncture," said Tierney.

He did not offer further details on what specific items were found in the home, but did say it appears no human remains were discovered during a search of Heuermann's backyard. As for whether any of the three women he is charged with killing were actually murdered at the home, Tierney said that "evidence doesn’t point one way or the other."

and this:

He says there's no clear evidence either way if anyone was killed at the house.

"Evidence does not point either one way or the other. I would say we have obtained a massive amount of material," Tierney said.

and this:

There was “not one thing that jumps out” among the evidence at this point, he said.

here's the thing - the absence of a 'key' piece of evidence = no evidence of a crime committed there IMO so I'll just add JMO to my post (edit time has passed so I've reported my comment for mod intervention)

It's going to take them quite some time to go through everything they took from the property, to even find out if any of it is relevant at all imo

oh I think some of it will be relevant - I just don't think there will be any evidence that a crime (such as murder) was committed there (and for the family's sake, I hope not) JMO

There were cats and dogs in the household, although Idk when exactly. If LE found AE's and RH's hair on the victims, I would expect some animal hair also. We will see, whether it will turn up.
-.-.-
The neighbours also reported that Heuermann's dog was often left outside, barking incessantly and causing disruptions to the neighbourhood.

The spotlight on the family has attracted onlookers who show up at the home “just to get a glimpse of what’s going on at the house,” Macedonio said.

Ellerup has been in touch with Heuermann since his arrest, the attorney said, though he did not provide further details.

The wife and children have also received support, Macedonio said, including from the daughter of serial killer Keith Hunter Jesperson, the so-called “Happy Face Killer.”

“It’s been extremely overwhelming for her and the children trying to piece life back together to what it was two and a half weeks ago,” Macedonio said. “I don’t know if they’re ever going to return to normalcy, but day by day she’s getting better.”

According to a court calendar, Heuermann is scheduled to appear before Judge Timothy Mazzei for an 8 a.m. status conference in Suffolk County Court in Riverhead, N.Y.

But the hearing likely won't take place until 2 p.m., court officials told The Messenger.

Defense attorney Michael J. Brown may ask that Heuermann, who's being held without bail, be allowed to skip the hearing, a court source said.

But that request isn't likely to be granted, the source added.

Brown could also seek to have bail set for Heuermann but officials haven't gotten any indication that will happen, the source said.

What possible reason could he have not to appear?

'We hear from a legal expert about today's court hearing for suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann on Long Island.'

Someone asked me yesterday why I thought Heuermann, an architect, would allow his own home to look in such disrepair. I flippantly replied, " Because it's his childhood binky ? ". Later in the day I was sitting on the porch having coffee, and I recalled that conversation. The more I got to thinking about it, the more I started to think that I really, unintentionally , might have hit on something. Anyone who has ever had a child knows that a child's blankie is their security. They pitch a fit if you wash it, or try to sew it when it gets ratty, etc. etc. Basically, they want it exactly how it was when it first began to offer them comfort. If you think about RH's father dying when he was 12 years old (approaching puberty), and if the accounts of school mates are true that he was bullied and always left school and "had to get home to his mother "...that house could WELL be his security blanket.

(How's that for a goofy theory, InTheDetails ? ;) )
That makes sense to me.

“Everything in the house was turned upside down,” Macedonio said. “Dresser drawers were emptied out. The bathroom tub ... was actually cut open. The floors were ripped up. The couches and the mattresses have been removed.”

The family has received support, Macedonio said, including from the daughter of serial killer Keith Hunter Jesperson, the so-called "happy face killer" convicted of killing eight women over five years.

“It’s been extremely overwhelming for her and the children trying to piece life back together to what it was two and a half weeks ago,” Macedonio said. “I don’t know if they’re ever going to return to normalcy, but day by day she’s getting better.”

It comes as Heuermann is set to appear at a 2 p.m. conference hearing, where the court is expected to go over evidence and talk with witnesses.

"My children cry themselves to sleep. I mean, they're not children. They're grown adults, but they're my children. And my son has developmental disabilities, and he cried himself to sleep," she said in the statement. "He's so distraught and doesn't understand. And as a mother, I have no answers for him."
