An attorney for the suspect in the string of killings known as the Gilgo Beach murders says there will not be any plea deals in the case.

Rex Heuermann was due back in court Tuesday for the first time since pleading not guilty to the murders of three women: Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Lynn Costello. All three women disappeared over a 14-month period before their bodies were discovered near Gilgo Beach on Long Island's South Shore in 2010.
Wow, 100 hours of surveillance footage recorded prior to his July 13 arrest. I want to see all of them pleeeeeeease!!!

The timing of these calls is also interesting as it has been stated that the Barthelemy calls were made from extremely busy locations so that even with cameras everywhere, it was impossible to trace the calls. 12:40 p.m. -- that suggests a lunch hour noon to 1 p.m.. The later time, with his personal phone, he was back on the job. At one point in the document, the point is made that at NO time when a call to the victims was being made was RH's phone active anywhere else. In other words, LE had attempted to find his personal phone AWAY from the burner phone or victims' phones and had not succeeded.

Edited to add: I hope the photos taken at the times the victims' phones were used are now scanned to see if RH can be located in the crowd. Wouldn't that be strong evidence if at the exact time Barthelemy's phone was being used to call her family by the man who said he killed her RH could be proven to be in the exact location of the phone call?
I tried looking for a man on a phone in a couple of locations and found that it was liking looking for a ant on a ant hill, nearly impossible.

It is NOT common. However, there are other people in the same neighborhood who may have the same mtDNA of both Heuermanns. And the mtDNA has NOTHING to do with pairing with ANY man.
They DO have a hair from a man who has the same mtDNA as RH. However, it doesn't appear they could ID any of the Ypart of the sample since the bail application discusses only the mtDNA from the male.

The fact that from one victim's body, they have found one hair with RH's mtDNA and another hair with the mtDNA of his wife -- well that is very compelling, don't you think?

However, to me, the mtDNA is not strong enough, by itself, for me to vote to convict him. I don't think.

The mtDNA combined with the phone evidence, once it is presented in full, probably would be. But it's the combination. And who knows how much other evidence is already available. How compelling everything already is. The state has presented just enough to get the arrest warrant, then enough evidence to keep him in jail without bail.

I suspect the DA and LE are looking for DNA that will make RH's guilt undeniable. But with multiple crimes and mountains of material to test, catalog and evaluate, it's gonna be a long time.

(I said XYZ because I don’t know RH’s mito haplotype. I didn’t mean Y chromosome). Nor did I mean pairing with men, I read that he left his hair on one body, too. This is a combo of mitos, even if there were her hair on one body and his, on another. Time, place, hair ——> house.

I think the combo of “his mito-her mito” itself would lower the probability; their trip pattern will lower it more. The calls, even more. The witness, even more. They just need to prove one case, IMHO. The rest? How many, where? Relatives need a closure…but it might take a while.

Here is an interesting article about Icelandic mitos that I haven’t fully finished myself as I can’t open Table 1 and 2 on my iPhone. Will finish in the evening. Still curious. As always, it is was more heterogeneous than one might expect.

I actually thought it was courageous of that comment against the setting of everyone believing RH is the right suspect. So yes I was surprised I usually don't see a comment on suspect who may be innocent. Right now it seems the evidence so far is stacking up against RH but time will tell.

I also haven't really seen the monster after yesterday's court appearance, I saw a very angry person instead. So it's either that he finally got caught and this is now his fate or that he's being made a spectacle and he's innocent and his life has been ruined for no reason. I believe they have captured the right man and time will tell.

As far as DS is concerned I don't share your opinion of him or how he handled his friends disappearance, he might have been scared for his life since RH knew where he lived. JMO

The evidence does look overwhelming. I am usually “the presumption of innocence” person, so I am still waiting for more evidence in other cases. But RH started a while ago and maybe got more bold; technology developed, too. His case seems pretty convincing IMHO. Also - maybe not all in LI police were not totally honest, but we can’t negate the scientific expertise of NYC.

''The wife of Gilgo Beach serial killer suspect Rex Heuermann has stayed in contact with him since his bombshell arrest for the murders of at least three women, it has been revealed.

Asa Ellerup – who has been married to the accused serial killer for more than 20 years and shares two adult children with him – has spoken to her husband in “personal” jailhouse phone calls while he remains behind bars in Suffolk County jail, her attorney Robert Macedonio told CNN on Tuesday.

“I believe there has [been contact] but you have to realise any phone calls are recorded out of the facility,” he said, declining to detail the contents of those conversations.

As jailhouse calls are recorded, he said that he had advised Ms Ellerup not to discuss any details of the case with her husband by phone.

“So she’s been [on] very basic phone calls. Everything’s recorded. She’s not to discuss anything, and nor does his attorneys want him discussing anything about the allegations,” he said.''

There is nothing wrong in it. Where does he keep tax returns, combination to his safe, whatnot. Nothing wrong in it.

I think that, simply, like a lot of us before the bail documentation hit the public, he assumed that burner phones weren't able to be traced to him. Why be elusive if you think LE has no way of knowing it's you?

MOO
No reason, there. BUT from a practical standpoint, if you have two phones, fired up and ready, you might make a call on the wrong phone - YOUR phone makes an incriminating call. However, if you keep one turned off, you'll know immediately if you have the right phone or not. From the few records we've seen, he made a couple of mistakes. Perhaps he made others. Knowing these could be dangerous mistakes, he decided to troubleshoot the situation and come up with something to prevent that in the future.

It is easy to find a SW very easily in AC without having to search for them online. No doubt there were listings available online, but you'd only have to drive a couple of blocks from the boardwalk to find them. Or go to bar in the area, or just walking along the boardwalk, but that's unlikely with regular patrols there.
There are many ways to engage sex workers besides online ads or finding them on the street. Strip clubs, dancers and "hobbyists" have a certain code they work under. I won't repeat how this works here, but trust me, a customer who dishes out drinks and cash is making a future investment.

(Sorry if that's TMI )

I understand not discussing the case over the phone, but I just have to ask what in the what do you talk about? Him: How are the kids? Her: What's new, how are they treating you? I want a divorce.

Haha!

It was fascinating, in a queasy sort of way. Many of the posters are apparently married, and spend hundreds (or more) per month on their ‘hobby’. These seems to be a large element of risk-taking, which is part of the thrill. (According to my very amateur and likely statistically invalid analysis).

What I found most interesting during my brief peek was how many men seemed to say the woman’s personality as the most important part of their rating. An attractive woman who was otherwise not a good conversationalist, or warm, would generally be rated below someone less attractive but more engaging. (This is for women working out of hotels, btw, not so much

(This is for women working out of hotels, btw, not so much women on the street.). Many men are looking for a provider who provides a “FGE” - full girlfriend experience.
From the descriptions of what MBB, AC and MW wore on their last sightings, I’ve always thought that their killer was looking for that “FGE.” For MB, who appears to have been the one (of the GB4) RH fixated the most on, there is no one who spoke as to what she was last seen wearing. But, Johnny Terry, aka Blaze, did say she had a regular client on LI and for overnights she could make $1,000. An overnight sounds like a FGE. IMO.

The highest match percentage of the female hairs excluded 99.98% of the North American population. Let's limit that percentage to the Long Island population in 2010. That would be 15.136 possible matches.
How many of those 15.136 possible matches also have DNA in their household that matchs the other DNA found with the victims (Heuermann's)??

You're the stats/% puller - can you let me now? How many Long Island household's have DNA that match both him and her within them ... because DNA from both of them was found.

I failed Grade 10 math and had to repeat, but I think the answer really dwindles down that 15.136 to ... ONE household.

I suspect they have a lot of details to work out with regard to the divorce. IIRC, an MSM article reported that the divorce would not be contested. That would have to be something that AE and RH worked out together, or their respective lawyers worked out with them both.

Also current financial matters, etc.

I am surprised that her attorney mentioned this, as it would seem to me to be a private matter.
