So very happy for MBB's family and loved ones. Each of these women deserve justice and I hope they serve it to every single one of them.

RH done in by his father's belt...oh the irony.

''Multiple sources confirmed that 60-year-old Rex Heuermann is scheduled to appear in Suffolk County Court Tuesday morning.''
Do you think Asa’s film crew will be allowed into the courtroom?

Let’s hope this documentary can’t get any advertisers. That‘s what they deserve! IMHO.
To be fair, RH's family did nothing wrong. Furthermore, the victims have had a national audience for many years, as they should. Numerous documentaries, podcasts, and websites have been dedicated to them and to seeking justice for them. I'm baffled by some people's seeming hatred towards RH's wife and children. All his wife did was have the misfortune of meeting and marrying him. His family are victims, too. And if any of the victims' families have any opportunity to tell their story and profit from it, I hope they do.

Furthermore, we don’t know what Peacock is going to deliver. AE might not even speak. The fees might be to shoot at the home, use photos from her youth. Quite possibly nothing evidentiary. We just have no idea, let’s not assume it’s a conspiracy to escape justice.

We have no way of knowing if RH's family did or did not do anything wrong. We only know there are no current charges. The documentaries, podcasts and websites for the victims' families cannot compare to a documentary payment of millions of dollars for the alleged perpetrator's family members and lawyers. I have not observed any "hatred" towards RH's family. Hardly a misfortune, considering the payout she'll be receiving just for being married to the creep. So what's she being paid for if she's claiming she knows nothing, saw nothing, heard nothing, sensed nothing. There's nothing fair about what is happening with this situation. MOO.

Additionally her attorney is likely driving that bus. Media will capitalize on this story. Perhaps he felt it best to get out in front of it, perhaps exercise a degree of control over what's presented. Perhaps, in good faith, he saw it as an important way to earn real income at a time when money problems could be very real, or alternately saw a path to feather his own pockets. I just don't know that we need to ascribe greed or profiteering or conspiracy to someone on account ilof what a family member did. It's not right she should go broke for crimes she didn't commit. I can't begrudge her a dollar. He turned their worlds upside down too.

To acknowledge that, IMO, doesn't take anything away from the first tier victims of the (alleged) LISK. A swath of destruction, no one wins.

What's the old saying in the media "If it bleeds, it leads". The public's fascination with murder and the aspects of true crime has long been a money maker for Magazines, TV shows, Films, Books, Documentaries, True Crime Websites, Podcasts, etc. This genre is outselling and outperforming sports, government and typical news cycles.

The only thing that would change that would be if the people collectively decided not to watch, buy or participate. That is a personal choice. Nobody can dictate morality, it just doesn't work. What is offensive to some, is not to others and has been since the beginning of time.

I do feel sympathy for the families of victims and of the perpetrators who are blasted on a national stage with little to no input or perspective of their own typically. They are thrust into an unwanted limelight and retraumatized all over again. I'm linking an article that I thought was interesting on this subject:

The Human Cost of Our True Crime Obsession

I’m going to have to double check, but I’m pretty certain if you commit a crime in my State, you are barred from profiting from it.

The opposite is also true, i.e. there's no evidence that he did violate a policy (he denies it), and you can't find anything that say he did. Even assuming that he moved some vacation days around, that wouldn't be a "story" that a political insider digs up through FOIL requests and then runs to the press about, that's just sleazy.

Oh, sure, this pay "scandal" is a great way to reinforce good employee practices; let's make an example of the first successful Suffolk police commissioner in some time. Shameful.

I hope Harrison thinks plenty about how he was treated shabbily by the Suffolk old guard. It is significant, it's almost certainly related to the investigation, and Harrison will probably hold his tongue about it now solely to protect Heuermann's prosecution. Whatever the rift was that opened up between Tierney and Harrison, we'll learn about it someday.
Possibly, Harrison has Whistleblower status that hasn’t been made public!

I think you are assuming Macedonio is on his client's side. No evidence of that. He has a 400k payout coming, PLUS he has secured an income stream for his client, so he won't be working pro bono.

I think you are assuming that Peacock is concerned with any intentions AE might have to get out ahead of anything. They are going to want a ROI, and it ain't coming from saying nothing. They need a train wreck for people to tune into. I think AE is not only doing a terrible thing to the families of the murder victims, and setting herself up to be unable to be an uninfluenced witness. These things trouble me greatly, but I bet she is going to be more troubled by this:

Peacock has no incentive to paint her in a flattering or victimized light. Nobody will tune in to "saw nothing, knew nothing, but It was awful for me to have my plumbing cut to gather evidence for a serial murder investigation." If it's true she has no information, nobody will tune in for nothing. But no matter what she says, does, denies, etc., editing can humiliate her like crazy. She might be humiliated simply for being ignorant of what the production could suggest should have been obvious to her. She might be humiliated by being painted as a person making claims the viewers don't believe, and thus become outraged. Angry people tune in. She might be humiliated by having Rex's sexual betrayal of her broadcast for all to see. She might be humiliated for engaging in private recreational activities that she thought were only going to be known among other like-minded people, and not the whole world.

I hate what Macedonio has done to AE. But I fear I'm going to hate what Peacock does to her more.I will be utterly shocked if she is ultimately portrayed in a flattering light.

There is a swath of destruction, but there are winners. Ugly winners. Rex's defense is strengthened by controlling a key witness. Macedonio gets 400k, and a client who can pay him.

This production is not harmless.

No one is blaming his children, siblings, former co-workers, friends, etc.

Some investigation has been conducted into his wife’s involvement due to past activities and evidence found on the victims.

Seldom do accused serial killers wives launch public attacks on law enforcement for investigating those murders while accepting multi million dollar media deals and refusing to express sympathy for the victims. They’re free to do so, of course.

Rex’s wife is free to attend his trial and otherwise publicly support him.

To be honest, I'd probably defend a spouse, kiddult, other loved one, too. I wouldn't snub the victims, but I'd see my role more as making sure my loved one gets a fair trial. If I believed the charges, I'd want my loved one to have a chance to mitigate the harm done in some small way. I'd understand the selfishness in that- focusing on helping my love one grow from a "mistake" - and for that reason, I would not snub and would make sure my attorney reiterated everyday my horror and empathy for the victims - that woukd be my attorneys role. So I could quietly make sure my loved one gets a fair trial.

That is not to say I'd help any loved one get away with murder, but there is a difference between helping someone be treated fairly and that.

Also, it is quite possible that I'd change my mind about even concerning myself for a fair trial, if I evolved to feel betrayed. But I suspect my very first thoughts would likely be either be it's not true, or it was very wrong but understandable how my loved one got there.

Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said Monday a “major development” in the Gilgo Beach serial killer case will be announced Tuesday in the case as suspect Rex A. Heuermann is expected to appear in a Suffolk courtroom.

Representatives of the Gilgo Beach Homicide Investigation Task Force, including Tierney, Suffolk County Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr. and Acting Suffolk County Police Commissioner Robert will hold a press conference Tuesday “to update and announce a significant development in the investigation by the Gilgo Beach Homicide Investigation Task Force,” the district attorney's office said in a news release Monday.

I think part of the problem is that, in this case, the killer's wife is earning millions of dollars while the victims families have received little or nothing.

They will be left with the option of suing Rex H, which will yield little, if anything.

This source mentions a buckle or fastener that's gold.

I don't recall that being in evidence. I remember when the SCPD under Hart made this announcement and attempted not to reveal who was bound in this belt, it was always frustrating and weird that we could not see the buckle. It seemed to me at the time, the buckle would be more memorable or recognizable.

There was a lot of speculation that it was a woman's belt, a police uniform type belt, blah blah blah, which could have been cleared up with the buckle, more information about the length, etc.

As I recall, it was inadvertently released that this belt was associated with Maureen because the website posted the photo without removing its file name, which had her name in it. So it became clear it was found on/near her. And some cryptic note with the file like, "no glove."

I think the police only said the killer is believed to have handled the belt; I don't recall knowing she was tied with it then.

i wonder if we will see the buckle soon, and if it makes it seem more likely that someone must have been able to ID the belt?
