Well, he's proud of all of it, and he's finally getting the laurels. He gets to take credit for the greatest work of his life.

I still think he's responsible for Jamie Seymour.

He mentioned dumpsters in his planning document, and I wonder if he used one for her, and that's why she's never been found. Her appearance, her time of disappearance (time of year and interval between known killings), her working at Port Authority, it all lines up with others he killed.

I also think he killed Asian Doe but would never admit to it because he's homophobic/transphobic and possibly racist, despite his web history showing he's got broad tastes of age, gender and ethnicity.

I hope his being added into CODIS solves other cases outside of New York. I really want a proper search of that other property he owns out of state.

No charges for the murder of Karen Vergata? How devestating for her family.

PLUS, the part of being studied by the FBI's Behavioral Science -- this is in my opinion his reason for pleading guilty -- he will be STUDIED, he will be FAMOUS His ego on display. In my opinion this is why he agreed to plead guilty.

Any thoughts on if his body count is higher than 8?

I think unfortunately he may have more victims and starting in 2011 he probably got an extra thrill as he targeted and preyed on more women thinking he was smarter than the police and could always evade capture.

I did think Asian Jane Doe was a victim of his as well

@cathyrusson

Wow, the judge made the pool camera leave the Rex Heuermann plea hearing before he pleaded guilty to each murder. No cameras had been allowed in the courtroom during the entirety of the case, and I wondered what the judge meant in his order for this when it said cameras for a "limited portion". Now we know.

Heuermann pleaded guilty to 7 murders. He will not be officially charged with Karen Vergata's murder, but he pleaded guilty to transporting her body. @Angenette5 will have the complete breakdown of today's hearing on Crime Fix later today.

Yes, there are probably more.

Congratulations to the inter-jurisdictional LISK Task Force who investigated deeply enough and accumulated a mountain of evidence to force Rex to confess. The evidence against him was overwhelming, thanks to a lot of officers who are very skilled at using data to hunt killers. Thank you for digging through every last file until you found the mention of the green Avalanche pick-up truck and the john who looked like an ogre. Thank you for sifting through all that cell phone data to find the relevant burner phones, then tracking them down to Heuermann.

Can someone ELI5 what benefit Rex gets from the deal, aside from just avoiding trial? The state saves money by not having to prosecute, I get that, but what does he get out of having three LWOP sentences and not eight?

I believe that's probably because they have no physical evidence tying her to him, so it's just his word, and I don't believe you can be convicted just on a confession. But he has admitted responsibility, which gives the family closure, the importance of which cannot be understated.

And thank you for that perfectly calculated micromanaged take down on the sidewalk of RH.

I will pull it up and watch it from time to time. He must have been so dumbfounded when it went down. 🤣🤣🤣

That sidewalk arrest is legendary. I watched it a dozen times and loved it every time. Very professional.

i try to be measured and have a bias towards silence when it comes to offender's families... but golly, after all of this, i hope Asa just goes away.

Under the plea agreement, Heuermann has waived all rights to appeal and will not face any additional charges over the eight murders. He will return to court on June 17 for his sentencing, where he faces up to seven life sentences.

he is smirking, dupers delight, and he knows he has many more victims, I think KV got thrown in only to make him look like he's so cooperative and confessional. look that that full on smirk! he's enjoying it! he's in absolute heaven!

Well at least she said she felt for the victims. That's a first...

Well, in her defense, there is no way to answer that. Like the classic 'have you stopped beating your wife'.

You knew, and you're party to it. You didn't know, and you're obviously deficient somehow. Never mind that serial killers with that social mask often very successfully compartmentalise their family life and true self from each other. Rader, Ridgway, Keyes, etc. all did.

We can have all kinds of opinions about the way she's behaved and what she's said and done since his arrest, but judging her for 'not knowing' shouldn't be one of them. Women get asked 'how could you not know' about crap men do every single day, from infidelity to child abuse to fraud to addiction, and the fact of the matter is, men lie, and men who like to lie a lot and have a secret part of their life choose as spouses women who don't ask questions or pay attention to behaviour or inconsistencies that more suspicious folks would find worrying. When he met and married her he was already a murderer. He chose her because he knew she wouldn't threaten that side of his life.
