Kyle Jean Baptiste, who achieved two Broadway firsts in being the youngest and the first black actor to play Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, has died in a fall in New York. He was 21.
His death happened at 4am Friday night/early Saturday in Brooklyn police say, when he was sitting on a fourth-floor fire escape with a 23-year-old woman, stood up and slipped backwards.
