Police discovered her washed-up body on the shore line at Gyllyngvase Beach, in Falmouth, Cornwall, just before 11am on New Year's Day.
The woman was described as aged between 50 and 70 years old, about 5ft 2ins (1.57m) tall, white, of a medium build, with short grey hair.
She was wearing blue corduroy trousers, blue leather flat-soled ankle boots with zips, a big blue-coloured Quba-brand sails jacket and a red woollen top underneath.
A spokesperson said "The lady has no obvious tattoos, jewellery or personal items with her to assist in identifying her.

If she lives alone and keeps to herself, no one may know she is missing yet. It is a terrible but true fact that many people from middle age and upward are isolated, and unless they have regular family, social, religious or care connections, they can be and are not missed until something happens to make it clear they are not okay.

There are (IMO) a lot of recently solved doe cases where the person (older/middle aged) went disappeared basically in their own neighborhood and weren't identified for this reason.

This is somewhat local to me. JMO but my guess would be self harm sadly. She doesn’t sound like she was dressed for coastal walking. There are some lovely remote coastal paths and beaches up and down that bit of Cornwall.

But the weather here the past few weeks has been diabolical. You would need to be dressed for it if out for a walk, and zip up ankle boots would not be it. There are lots of headlands around there and high cliffs, not all of them very steep though.

She just doesn’t seem like someone who was dressed for walking or swimming and likely to have had an accident.

My guess is over the Christmas season people may not notice that someone isn’t in their usual routine, especially if not expected by family. Hopefully now as everything is getting back to normal, someone will notice they haven’t seen her in a bit.

I presume that rules out Caroline Fisher who was my first thought when I saw this.

Height/age range is about right but she went missing over a year back in January 2022 and she was said to have dark hair. Where Caroline went missing and where this lady was found are fairly close to each other.
