San Francisco State wrestler goes missing during ocean 'polar plunge'

A 22-year-old San Francisco State University wrestler went missing after diving into the ocean off the coast of a California beach for a 'polar plunge' with two friends on Thursday.

Agreed rip currents can carry even the best swimmers miles out into open water and by that time exhaustion and hypothermia takes it's toll. Diving into an area known for that along with the rocks underneath can be tragic as the wave up grabs you picks you up and slams you below.
