This type of helicopter aircraft has been in a few fatal and non fatal crashes. My guess would be a rotator blade failure of some kind. Personally I wouldn’t go on any helicopter because if there is a major mechanical fault it is a very dangerous situation.

Yep...... no “glide”....

Unconfirmed reports say that one of the victims had been walking along the street when the chopper crash-landed on top of them.

Firefighters rushed to the scene at around 2pm local time on Tuesday after witnesses saw the helicopter "drop like a rock" from the sky.

At least five people were unconscious when they arrived, Newport County Fire Department said.

The R44 helicopter involved normally seats four people.

Police said that four of the five injured were on board the helicopter, and one person on the ground.

The crash happened a short distance from John Wayne Airport

It’s a miracle if the person walking along the street is one of the injured and not a fatality. Hopefully the injured all survive. My thoughts and prayers are with the deceased and injured.

I'll stick with my drone. I like my feet on the ground.
