Anyone see anything we can use to help identify this purse thief? A group of us were at Roebuck Pizza right next to Dryhop Saturday Night around 7 in Lakeview (Chicago's Northside) Roebuck
Video 1, her opening and grabbing things out of the purse
Video 2, walking back down and taking her whole bag with her
The African American woman behind us never ordered anything, and was clearly casing the place for some purses to snatch. She was there a good 45 min without buying anything. She immediately tired to use store cards (Target and Nordstrom's) that were in the bag. Fortunately no phone/keys/wallet/IDs were in there, but still out a few $100s worth of makeup and personal items stolen. Not to mention the bag itself. Police are not really interested or able to do much else as she didn't order anything so they dont have a lot to go on, and charges at the stores were small so the card companies are probably not going to pursue either. Chicago PD has 1000s of murder cases and violent crimes and gang issues to deal with so this is low priority for them.
Shout out to Sarah the Manager at the restaurant Saturday for getting us this video ASAP and trying to help. I do find it odd someone would be allowed to sit there for so long at a busy place on a Saturday night and not order anything. Also she is clearly talking to someone in the kitchen... Again though, management was great trying to help us and getting us this footage, but makes me think someone knows her who works there.
If anyone has information on her, please dump it in this thread, or notices anything in the video like when her cell lights up on the table... Most importantly, good reminder to always be alert in the city, even in the "nice parts". Lots of really ****** people out there!
