HEFLIN, Ala. (WBRC) - A Missing and Endangered Person Alert has been issued for 41-year-old Emmie Crystal Tuggle. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help locating her.

Police say Tuggle is a 6′1″ white female, weighing 275 pounds with hazel eyes and black hair. She may be living with a condition that may impair her judgement.

Tuggle was last seen on July 2, 2023, at approximately 7 a.m. in the area of County Road 25 in Heflin, Alabama.

If anyone has information regarding the whereabouts of Tuggle, please contact the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office at 256-357-2309, or call 911.

My friend Emmie Crystal Tuggle was last seen on July 2nd 2023. Around the area of county rd 25 in Heflin Alabama. The lead investigatior assumes that she left on her own free will because she had past drug abuse issues. They only did 2 property searches and she got little to no media coverage. She also goes by the name Crystal Black or Midget. She had a granddaughter due the November after she went missing. It is highly unusual for her to go almost 2 full years without contacting anyone. Friends or family she was always in touch with one of us. I am uploading her photo here, as well as her namus information. Any help will be very much appreciated.

Hey, lets establish facts first:

• Last Seen: July 2, 2023, near County Road 25, Heflin, Alabama (Randolph County)
• Age at disappearance: 42
• Aliases: Crystal Black, Midget
• Circumstances: Lead investigator thinks she left voluntarily due to past drug abuse
• Search Effort: Only 2 property searches, very limited
• Communication: Almost 2 years no contact , very unusual given she was always in touch before
• Personal Context: Due to have a granddaughter November 2023 (means a family connection was expected to be active)

1. Why only two property searches?
   
   • Was the search area limited?
   • Was there resistance to searching wider areas?
   • Were local landowners, woods, and abandoned buildings checked?
2. Drug Abuse History, Could this affect her safety?
   
   • Is it possible she got involved with dangerous people or places?
   • Could she have overdosed or been victim of foul play linked to substance use?
3. Family and Social Circle:
   
   • Who was she last seen with or known to be around?
   • Was she planning to meet someone near County Rd 25?
   • Did she have recent conflicts or threats?
   • Who was aware of her pregnancy or grandchild due date?
   • Any recent arrests, rehab stays, or hospital visits?
4. Communications Check:
   
   • Have phone records been checked for calls/texts before or after disappearance?
   • Any social media activity?
   • Did she have a phone or vehicle with her?
5. Aliases:
   
   • Searching under all known names is essential to spot sightings or records.
   • Did she move under these different names?
6. Local Patterns:
   
   • Have other disappearances happened nearby?
   • Are there known hotspots for drug activity or trafficking in Randolph County?

I have certain Conclusions:​

Voluntary disappearance but with no contact:
Unlikely given nearly 2 years without any reach-out. Even someone avoiding family typically checks in or is spotted.
Accidental death or overdose:
Could have happened in an area where she wasn’t found yet.
Foul play:
If involved with risky individuals or groups, could be victim of violence or abduction.
Homelessness or transient lifestyle:
Possible if struggling with addiction, but again, usually some sightings or contact.



It's pathetic that the search effort was so bad, but there's still hope if the search is widened throughout the county/state. I wish you the best of luck and will let you know if I find anything else.

The only recent arrest I could find for her was May 5, 2023, for resisting arrest, two months before she was last seen. Tuggle, Emmie Crystal - Calhoun County Sheriff's Office

Alabama is one of those states it's really hard to find public records for judicial matters outside of the appellate courts. So there may be more info, I just can't pull it up.

She's listed in missing information in height ranging from 5' 10" to 6' 2" but the most prevakent height listed is 6' 1". Weight is consistent 275-280 pounds.

I've known Emmie "Crystal " Tuggle, (also known as Crystal Black and sometimes goes by the name Midget) for around 14 years now. This is highly unusual behavior for her. She left 2 voicemails the night she disappeared, one for her brother and one for her best friend however she was unintelligible because she was crying so hard. Although it does sound like she's arguing with someone it's just too hard to make out. The police claim that since she had a past of being a drug abuser, that she left on her own free will. We know differently because she had a grandchild due that November. Also, she wouldn't have left her purse, jewelry, phone and most importantly her best friends ashes she always kept in her bra in a small silver urn. All of those items were found at her home. And she is, in fact 6ft2inches tall weighs 275, has brown hair and eyes, has DNR tattooed on her chest, tombstones on one arm and a syringe on the other, along with karma (these are all jailhouse style tattoos) above her left eyebrow. We just want to know what happened to her. None of our lives have been the same since she went missing. We just want answers, if not for her friends, at least for her family.

Emmie wasn't pregnant, her daughter was. Emmie had a tubal ligation years ago, and they cause of the limited search area was supposedly due to lack of resources.
