Alex was reported missing on Nov. 11, 2016 by co-workers after he failed to show up for work.

His family has not heard from him since then.

MPD says Alex was reportedly seen in the Kīhei, Nāpili, and Kahana areas.

Circumstances of Disappearance
David Alex was reported missing on 11/09/2016 by co-workers from Office Max after he failed to show up to work. David moved to Maui on 11/01/2016 from Crystal Lake, Illinois. According to his mother, she had not heard from David since 11/05/2016. David was last seen by officers of the Maui Police Department on 11/08/2016 after he was involved in a moped accident. David informed the officers at the scene that he was not injured. David was last seen wearing a long sleeve, blue colored t-shirt, grey surf shorts, black tennis shoes, and a green colored baseball cap. David was also operating a black and silver colored moped. David is believed to be homeless and it is unknown where he may be staying.

David Alex – The Charley Project
Alex moved to Maui, Hawaii from Illinois on November 1, 2016 and took at job at Office Max. His mother last heard from him on November 5. On November 8, he spoke to officers of the Maui Police Department after he was in a moped accident. Although Alex was not injured, his black and silver moped was damaged.


This was the last sighting of Alex. On November 11, he or someone posing as him tried to purchase a new cellular phone, but wasn't able to because of an incorrect password. There have been possible sightings of Alex on Maui since then, but none of them have been confirmed.


Alex may be homeless. It's uncharacteristic of him to be out of touch with his family. His case remains unsolved.
