Found Safe HI - Emi Oka, 41, Kalāheo, Kauai, 2 Nov 2019

Emi Oka, age 41, was last seen on Nov. 2, at her residence in Kalāheo. Oka’s family notes that she is in need of medical attention. Oka is five feet, eight inches tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes, and is of Japanese descent. She was last seen wearing a dark blue sweater and dark pants.

Oka was also lost for a week before being found Feb. 7 in a ravine about a mile from her home. She reportedly stayed alive by drinking rainwater and eating nothing but leaves and some kind of wild vegetable.

Police said two women heard Oka’s cries for help coming from a thickly vegetated area behind their row of houses on Kakela Makai Drive. According to police, the two “good Samaritans” followed the sound down the hill and found Oka behind a wire fence.

Oka was tired and looked like she lost a lot of weight, but was otherwise in relatively good physical condition, police said.

Her mother earlier told TGI she had wandered away from her family’s home in the middle of the night on Jan. 31.
