HI I'm new here and researching hate crimes in orange county C.A. in 1970

I have zero idea of where to begin with this... but here it goes lol.

I'm very interested in orange county California in the 1970's. I recently have heard of a very hate powered movement that took place in Laguna beach. my understanding is that they had some of the fist gay clubs and to say the least they didn't receive a warm welcome. men were beaten severely after leaving the clubs and I believe one was killed. does anyone know anything of this case or if there was more then one. is there someplace I can search for this?

I guess my goal in this is to find out how many gay men were killed in Laguna in the 1970 and there names and if there are any unsolved at this time.

this is just one type of hate crime in the O.C. that I'm looking into I'm also looking into race hate crimes and the killing of police officers. do you know of any? I would like to start compiling a list of them. any help on this would be much apricated.
