Hospital turns in applicant who is illegal immigrant

I thought this was interesting. The fact that she had purchased a SS# for $110 at Wal-Mart particularly perturbed me. (Yes, I know she bought it from "Willie on the corner," not the store itself.) The hospital is defending itself by saying she is guilty of identity theft, which is true.

I don't know why the hospital is being attacked for turning in someone using someone else's SS#. They attorney acts like they were targetting the woman. She's the one commiting a crime.

If it came to my attention that anyone was committing identity theft, I'd report it to the police in a heartbeat, and if they were in the U.S. illegally, I'd report it to the immigration authorities as well.

Someone here at Websleuth's has a siggy that says something like "A witness who remains silent is a silent accomplice." I think that applys here.
