How to Navigate Forum/Tips/Avatars/Pics

Okay..I'm feeling completely computer illiterate here. I have the zipped folder on my desktop. I right click and extract to...where?

Click on "here" or desktop.

What will happen is the zip file will be broken into 2 files that you can view when you open it.

But when you right click do you have an option to pick "Explore"?

If you do grab both folders and drag them to your desktop then you can view it all!

hey dolce (where have you been?) i think momtective is trying to open the file for casey's photobucket images, not her own photobucket.

or when you post, just use the "manage attachments" feature below the posting text box and you can post a picture right off your local drive .EZ

Thanks everyone...I finally got it. :duh:
You know it wasn't like I had never opened a zipped file before but I just could not get it to unzip and open...finally figured out it was another program I had downloaded that was preventing the file from unzipping.

I am trying to change my avitar and upload pix to an album on my profile but it isn't working.... I know that it isn't a problem with the sizes because I've checked all of them. It won't even let me upload the two that I already have into the album.

Is anyone else having this problem or am I just lucky?

What exactly is the problem - you say "it won't let you", does that mean you are not finding where to do it, or that you are getting some sort of error message?

Don't worry about the size, if your picture is too big it will be reduced in size automatically.

Feel free to email me the picture you are trying to add to an album or use as an avatar and I can see of it works for me.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly... I just tried it again and now it is working.... of course... all it took was me asking for help and it cured itself.

I would browse for the picture, have it in the "cell" or whatever the technical term is for that space, I would hit save and then the cell would go blank... no picture... I tried dozens of times for the avitar, the album and the profile picture... the exact same thing happened each time. :banghead:

Not really, it's a handful whose owners/admins have made various threats against the owner/mods here. If you try to post a link and it comes up as "*******" you've found one. In general they post big "copyright" notices saying nobody is allowed to copy stuff from their site or link to it without written permission and when people from WS have linked to it they send Tricia threatening (and usually really funny) letters, so we just block links. The funny thing is these sites without exception copy posts from here in violation of the same sort of copyright policy they scream about, but none of them are worth the time to deal with.

We post threatening emails and letters in the moderator area and make rude comments about them. It's fun!

I did make that mistake and realized I was in error. I tried to then delete all the text (thinking that would make the post go "poof") in my post and that gave me an error prompt that I didn't have any characters in the post. Then I typed "Oop's" thinking that would just make the original post with the deleted text go away just leaving the "oop's" part. But nooooo.....like the dumb chimp on a computer that I am, I now had two post's, the one with the naughty linkie and then the one that said "oop's."

How does one delete a post? (I had to hit the alert button on my post for a "Clean up on aisle 9" and I dislike buggin the mod's as they already have enough on their plates.

You have a period of time after you make a post to edit or delete it - you can tell if the edit button is still there. After that point you can ask one of us to do it, just look to see who's on line.

Best to use the "Preview" function and think first, though!

lol, thanks . I did do that (well, not so much the thinkin' part) and that's when I spotted the trouble. I guess I need a feature installed that has a big ol' flashing "Delete Your Stupid Post" button. Can you hook me up? The bigger and flashier, the better! :bigstick:

Two user profile technical questions:
How can you remove visitor entries without leaving the "soft delete" marker? I often want to remove some visitor messages after a while (like my own posts there etc), but the marker that's left behind still takes so much space. It won't let me unclick "soft delete" in the settings.

If I create a new photo album but can't find a button for uploading the pictures, does that mean I've reached my limit for pictures and need to get rid of some pictures or albums? Thanks!

User CP-->edit your details-->custom user title will be one of the options. enter it and save.

Help!:seeya: I've been trying to upload an avatar pic and I just can't get it to upload. I've tried to re-size the pic to 150x150 pixels and under, 100x100 pixels and under. I then used the original pic. Upload still failed. I opened a photobucket account, uploaded the pic there and copy/pasted the various codes into the box to no avail.

I've tried it in Chrome, Firefox, IE. I've changed the file extension from jpg to bmp. :banghead: I don't know what to try next. The pictures are associated with Picassa, I don't know if that is the problem, I'm trying to figure out how to unassociate them with Picassa.

It's probably too big. Resize it smaller and see if that works for you.
