Praying for your family.Headed out to my garden to be sure my plant babies are staked and tied for the upcoming wind. I may be in Sarasota but the breeze has already started.
My aunt, uncle, plus my brother and sisterinlaw who are visiting from Maine, are all on the east coast in Barefoot Bay just south of Melbourne. They've got everything tied down or brought in. This will be their first hurricane as we typically don't get them this late in the season. I tried to impress upon them that its the flooding, not the wind that causes the most damage. But they know they're welcome to evacuate here if they need to.
Overnight, the National Hurricane Center nudged its predicted track north toward Melbourne, moving Miami-Dade and Broward out of the cone of uncertainty, but Nicole’s wind field is already nearly the size of the entire state, so its effects will be felt throughout Florida starting as early as Wednesday.
You and your family are in my prayers tonight and tomorrow. I'm glad it's "only" a Cat 1 and not stronger.
I think it’s coming your way this afternoon. Lots of steady rain but hopefully not severe winds in your area. You and your family are in my prayers tonight and tomorrow. I'm glad it's "only" a Cat 1 and not stronger.
I’m not sure where you are, but north of Tampa steady winds howling all night. It’s died down some this morning but still gusts. There is a pane of glass loose in my sliding door and it’s been rattling all morning (reminding me I shouldn’t procrastinate fixing things).I think it’s coming your way this afternoon. Aww…poor wee one!I know some of you are wondering “What’s a tropical storm like?”
It’s like a 6lb Morkie shaking like a leaf, attached to you in a baby carrier so he doesn’t have an aneurysm from the big scary wind noise. Fun times.

Yeah they had a lot of erosion from Ian and Nicole certainly added to that. Not surprised the beachside had some issues, they often do during storms.Houses collapsing in Wilbur-By-The-Sea, FL, downed power lines electrocuted 2 people in Orange County, lots of damage for a Cat 1.
