13th Juror,

How sweet of you to fill me in and offer to check on the "kid". :blowkiss:

He seemed to be doing just grand but ya never know....I might take you up on that one day as he isn't really very good with a phone. Wouldn't that freak him out if a lady by the name of 13th Juror came by to see about him because of ConcernedPerson. LOL!!!! Those baby blues of his would be wide with shock! :woohoo:

One thing I have to say ... I am so grateful to live in a state with a governor that has his act together and "knows what to do before, during & after an emergency".

FL Gov. Jeb Bush's handling of this hurricane, Florida's early portion of Katrina, & the 4 others we experienced last year that impacted so many of us Fla residents (me included!) - is like a day & night comparison to the performance of Louisiana Gov. Blanco .. and knucklehead Nagin.

IMO - Florida is blessed to have Gov. Bush at the helm. You couldn't pay me to live in New Orleans or anywhere else in Louisiana. For the sake of all Louisianans - I sure hope the voters there retain their respective memorys - and make their ballots count on election day.

I want to say something here. Back in the late 80's I had to view temporary office sites for a new company that my boss, Norman Braman, was starting. Since he was a big Republican and knew President Bush (daddy), and Jeb was in commercial real estate, I had to go view sites with him for several days. I then found him rather arrogant and uncooperative with little ol' me. I thought him rather full of himself.

I want to apologize now to the fine Governor of Florida. During last year's Hurricane season and this one, he has proven to be a leader. We don't hear much blame or passing the buck about the aftermaths of the storms. I'm sure every little detail wasn't perfect all the time, but we don't have the chaos and mismanagement from the local officials up to and including the Governor's office. Other states should take note of how Florida handles disasters, quit whining and step up to their responsibilities and show a little cooperation with both their local officials and the Federal Government.

Checking in!!!

Well I evacced the keys only to go to Ft Lauderdale where I was still hit with a cat 2. LOL
Was without power, water or cell phone service and once I had service I had no power to charge my cell phone.

Got home this morning (still no power in Ft Lauderdale or water)
But I have power and water here in the keys.
I am less the awning over my front door... torn right off and currently resides in my backyard. My shed has a new skylight.
But the house and all are fine. No flooding.

I hope your all ok:)

Thanks for checking in. We were concerned. Glad to hear you made it through ok and that your losses are no worse than they were.
When does the season usually end? Please tell me we aren't going to run over this year!

Amraan, are you on stilts? I wanted to ask that before. Knowing the keys well from many many years as a Miami resident, and escaping stress at my friend's condo at Key Colony Beach almost every weekend, I know a lot of homes are on stilts, with the garage on the ground and living quarters upstairs.

Glad you are back with minimal damage.

Hi!
No my house is not on stilts.
Just concrete block but it is on a higher point then many.
The reports I have heard are that the bayside got a lot of flooding. I am on the oceanside and the road and yard was totally dry by the time I got here.

LOL, it is hard to tell but I think you are happy about having your power back!
Congratulations, and good to have you back on board.
You got your power back fast, are you going to send a thank you to the power company? I hope you didn't have too much damage, and it is good to know you made it through safely.

Wilma was like the clean up crew after last years storms. It knocked down all the dead limbs. It was definitely a civilized hurricane in this area. Very happy here. The temp dropped to high 40's from 82. At least tonight I can turn the heat on.
