The Monona County Sheriff’s office needs your help in locating a missing woman.

Thirty-six-year-old Amy Renae Pliss, of Whiting, was last seen Tuesday morning in Sloan.

Pliss is described as white, standing 5’2″ tall, weighing 119 pounds and with blue eyes.

Authorities say the vehicle she was believed to have been driving was found at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday in Whiting. The vehicle had been involved in an accident.

Authorities say it is unknown if she was injured in the accident and may have walked away, or if she was picked up by someone.

Authorities ask residents in the Whiting area to check any outbuilding to make sure she did not seek shelter and is unable to contact emergency services.

Monona County Sheriff's Office looking for missing woman


The Monona County Sheriff's Office are looking for a missing woman.

They said that Amy Renae Pliss, 36, of Whiting, was last seen early Tuesday morning in Sloan. A vehicle she was believed to been driving was found in Whiting, Iowa Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. The vehicle had been involved in a crash.

Authorities don't know if Pliss was injured in the crash and may have walked away or was picked up by someone. They searched the area and didn't find her. Residents in the Whiting area were asked to search outbuildings to make sure she didn't seek shelter.

"We want you back Amy," said Amy Pliss's aunt, SB.

The Monona County Sheriff's office said Pliss was last seen shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday morning.

They said the vehicle she is believed to have been driving was in a single vehicle rollover accident on County Road K-45 just outside of Whiting.

The family says her purse was found near the crash site.

"We don't know if she was exactly in the truck. No one has seen or talked to her. We went to her apartment and no sign of her. We have checked with her friends and nobody seems to know we just want her home," said SB.

Family members of Pliss said she was getting off of work at the Sloan Tap around 1 a.m. on Tuesday.

They say Pliss went first home then left to go visit a friend in Onawa, Iowa.

Pliss has two children and one who is just 11 years-old.

"I just really want mommy to come home," said Amy Pliss's daughter.

The Monona County Sheriff's office and the Department of Natural Resources were out on ATV's Wednesday searching the area looking for signs of Pliss.

Law Enforcement asks for help locating missing woman from Monona County

The last time she was heard from was Tuesday morning April 9th about 1:00 am. Her vehicle was located near Whiting, Iowa on Highway 75 Tuesday afternoon, the vehicle had crashed. Personal belongings were found near the vehicle but there has been no sign of Amy.

UPDATE: There is word that the body of the missing Whiting woman has been found.

Family members of Pliss say that her body was recovered near the site of the accident around 6 p.m. tonight.

KCAU 9 is still waiting to hear from the sheriff's office, but they said they will be sending a release later.

Family confirms that body of missing Whiting woman has been found
A tragic ending to the search for missing 36-year-old Amy Pliss as the family confirms to Siouxland News that her body has been found.

Pliss' family says a group of kids discovered her body in a drainage ditch not far from where her wrecked vehicle was discovered.
