Today marks six months since the disappearance of a Hampton man, and to this day there have been few leads and no results.

22-year old Ethan Kazmerzak went missing sometime in the early hours of September 15th, 2013. A reward was offered for any information about his in October but was then taken off the table in early December. Now, police are hoping renewing the reward offer will help turn up some information about what may have happened to Ethan. On September 15th of last year the community of Hampton began the search for one of their own, and now 6 months later the question still remains, where is Ethan Kazmerzak?

Whoa, this happened six months ago and no clues since of his whereabouts. Doesn't look good. Always difficult when so much time passes after the disappearance. Looks like he and his car disappeared while out bar-hopping. Glad to see community searches are ongoing.

I'm within an hours drive of Hampton. They searched local areas of water & came up with nothing. At 1st I thought maybe he drove into a field somewhere, but obviously not because he wasn't found when the harvest was last Fall.

There is more than just A POND, there are few more water holes a smidge to the east of that ONE at the above reported address of the pond searched. As well, there are a couple of creeks meandering through...Buffalo Creek & Otter Creek <- appears to be the larger of the two.

In the Hampton Chronicle FB comments here, one post asks if searchers ever checked the 2 pits off Olive & 190th since there is a driving path right into it and they are so close to last phone ping:

The HC answers no, LE only checked the pit behind the home (as shown on tarabull's map above). Can any locals advise if LE did decide to check those since that 2013 answer was posted? I can't find anything besides LE asking property owners to check their own properties to see if anything suspicious.

Kazmerzak was seen in several area pubs on Sept. 14, including Pit Row and the Red Moose in Hampton as well as Duck&#8217;s in Aredale. He was reportedly last seen at a party at a gravel pit pond located behind a house in the 1400 block of 190th Street. Police say his cell phone was last used at about 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 15 at the intersection of 190th Street and Olive Avenue and his ATM card has reportedly not been used since Sept. 14.

I was raised an hour from here and currently live under two hours from here... I recently heard about this case (tonight to be exact) through a shared story on Facebook. How is it this man has been missing this long with very minimal news and media coverage?

How can a person and a car just go missing? By his license plate I'm assuming he recently purchased it, Iowa recently switched the way our plates are read. A couple years ago they were issued 123 ABC, now they are issued ABC 123.

I also find it strange the FindEthan website states his cell phone and ATM card have not been used since September 14th, yet the police statement is unable to comment on that.

There's too little information, and too much possibly conflicting information... Where are you Ethan?

Ethan Kazmerzak Search: No new leads as of Wednesday morning
September 18, 2013

...Richtsmeier said law enforcement authorities were able to digitally track Kazmerzak's cell phone and discovered that it was last used at the intersection of 190th Street and Olive Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 15.

"They were at a party at the sand pit," Richtsmeier said of Kazmerzak's last known location. "They were also in Aredale before they went to the sand pit."

Richtsmeier said in addition to having his deputies drive gravel roads throughout the county in hopes of maybe finding Kazmerzak's car off the road, two different airplanes were used on Monday to search the county. One - a private airplane - scanned the area around the sand pit. Later, Richtsmeier said, an Iowa State Patrol airplane was called in to re-search the area but no clues were discovered.

Richtsmeier said deputies would continue to scour county roads in an attempt to find any clues in the event Kazmerzak was involved in an accident - whether with another vehicle or a solo accident.

"If there was an accident, it's going to be a subtle indication," Richtsmeier explained. "There may be some gravel skid marks, a broken fence, or plants or grass flattened."

It's so scary to me how people can seemingly just vanish without a trace. It seems odd that LE won't comment if the cards have been used since his disappearance.
