An Iowa man and former Christian missionary has been sentenced to spend more than two decades in prison for sexually abusing a child under the age of 12 who contracted gonorrhea from the abuse.

Jordan Dee Andrew Webb, 31, hails from the city of Fort Dodge, which is located along the Des Moines River, roughly 100 miles due north of Des Moines itself. In late April, he was found guilty, by a Webster County jury on one count each of sexual abuse with persons under the age of 12 in the second degree, incest, and child endangerment.

On Friday, District Court Judge Christopher Polking sentenced the onetime Baptist evangelist to 25 years in prison for the sexual abuse charge, five years in prison for the incest charge, and two years in prison for the child endangerment charge. Due to each of the charges stemming from the same offense, the judge said, each of the sentences would be served concurrently – or all at the same time, according to the Messenger, the local daily newspaper in Fort Dodge.

Polking allowed for the possibility of parole after serving at least 70 percent, or 17-and-a-half years, of the sentence – and the successful completion of a sex offender treatment program.

Webb, 31, served as a missionary on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia with his wife and daughter from 2019 to February 2022 with the support of Harvest Baptist Church in Fort Dodge, according to The Messenger.

A jury convicted him in less than 2.5 hours on charges of second-degree sexual assault with persons under the age of 12, incest and child endangerment in April.

Webb will have to serve at least 17.5 years in prison before he's eligible for parole, officials said. He will also have to register as a sex offender for life after he is paroled.

Marvin Smith IV, the current pastor at Harvest Baptist Church, praised Webb in a letter to the court last year as a "great citizen" and a "great man in the community," according to WCYB.

Webb, who revealed in an earlier interview that his father is also a pastor, was investigated and charged after his alleged victim — identified as Jane Doe in court papers was diagnosed with gonorrhea in April 2022.

Dr. Regina Torson, a child abuse expert, testified during the trial that even though the state didn't have any direct evidence of how Webb infected the victim, she wasn't convinced of the defense's argument that the disease could have been spread in a non-sexual manner such as sharing a bathtub.

"It's possible, but is it reasonable?" Taylor asked the jury in her closing arguments. "If this is so possible, why aren't we seeing it more? … There is absolutely nothing reasonable about getting gonorrhea from a bathtub. That's not a thing, because if it was, there'd be a lot more cases of gonorrhea. It wouldn't be a sexually transmitted disease, but it is."

Webb was arrested in late April 2022 by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office after “health concerns” were raised regarding a juvenile earlier that same month, when both Webb and his preschool-age victim tested positive for gonorrhea. Those concerns prompted the child’s emergency removal from the custody of her guardian, local CBS affiliate KCCI reported.

Seems pretty obvious who his victim was, sadly. (imo)

Not sure how the law works in terms of medical records, but I'm *guessing* investigators can't simply blindly skim through ALL medical records of ALL local patients looking for others who were diagnosed with gonorrhea recently. I'm guessing they had to narrow down that search greatly first to pinpoint someone specific to look at before obtaining records to confirm. My guess is perhaps the adult woman/mom/wife was actually diagnosed first and, naturally, knew exactly who her case originated from. That probably caused some waves. Then when the child was diagnosed last, that caused a tsunami. Not facts, just my guess considering the incest charge which= family member and sharing a bathtub & the removal of the child probably= resides with. (My opinion only)

Sad case.
