Des Moines police again ask for help solving 1987 cold case murder of Jamedia Hines
'A forensic autopsy showed Hines, a mother of three, had been strangled to death. The autopsy did not show signs of sexual assault, police said.'

''In a 2021 interview with the department's public affairs office, Hines' daughter, Rashawnda Hines, said, "A lot of people ... have some knowledge of what happened to her and a lot of them are still around us; they're still here and I just need them to say something at this point."

Investigators learned new information about the case in 2023, but police are still working to find a missing piece.''

“They found her in back of our childhood apartment, which was really crazy,” Talbray said. “We actually had moved — and moved into a different house — but it’s so crazy that she ended up right back there.”

“There are people out there who have firsthand knowledge that would be the evidence we need,” he continued. “There are people out there who know what happened. They know who did it. You know, somebody has got to come forward and say, ‘This is what we know.’ You get us across that line to where we have enough evidence or enough probable cause to take a person into custody, and then sit them down with our detectives and let our detectives work their interview magic, we could make this case roll.”

While Parizek’s department is hoping someone comes forward with information, they are also hoping for continued advancement in DNA technology''.

I wonder if her murder could be connected to the disappearance of Beth Ricketts, also of Des Moines on 22 December 1987.
