***MISSING PERSON***

DMPD detectives are requesting the community’s assistance with locating 30-yr-old Jeanette Marie Bear.

Jeanette was last seen on March 14, in the 4300 blk of Merle Hay Road. Jeanette is struggling with health issues and has gone voluntarily absent in the past, however her current absence is the longest without any family contact.

Jeanette is 5’10” tall, weighs approximately 130 lbs, and has blue eyes. Her hair color was last known to be auburn/red. Jeanette has distinctive tattoos on her face and fingers (see photo).

Anyone who has information regarding Jeanette’s current whereabouts, or who believes that they have recently seen her, is asked to call DMPD detectives at 515-237-1466.

Officers were called to the 5200 block of Merced Street on Tuesday morning to a report of a body found in a residential yard, according to a news release. The person is believed to be 30-year-old Jeanette Marie Bear, though the identification is "tentative" awaiting forensic confirmation, the release said.

MOO after being missing so long, for some reason I think it's so strange to end up being found in a residential neighborhood.

I don't have the exact address, but the 5200 block of Merced Street is just so residential:

Based on this article it seems she had quite a history of DV:

"A Des Moines woman was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Tuesday in connection with a June 25 incident in which she allegedly assaulted the man she lives with in a fury.

Jeannette Marie Bear, 28, of 204 E. Wall Ave., Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 10 p.m. June 25 in the 17000 block of Iowa Highway 141 Diagonal, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The deputies made contact with the victim, who “had a ripped shirt, scratch marks on his neck and a bite mark on his back” after Bear allegedly “hit the victim multiple times,” according to court records."

"Bear was convicted of assault in 2011 in Polk County District Court. She was convicted of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness in 2019 in Polk County District Court. She was convicted of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness in 2020 in Polk County District Court in an incident in which she bit her mother “on the upper right arm, causing at least two areas of skin to be missing and drew blood,” according to court records."

If it is proven to be her - and JMO it appears it probably will be - I hope she went peacefully with no trauma at the end.

A Des Moines woman was missing for nearly two months this spring before her body was found in a residential yard. Her death was ruled an accident.

Bear's cause of death was acute drug intoxication, specifically methamphetamine, with hypothermia as a contributing factor, according to Alex Carfrae, spokesperson for the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.

There were no obvious signs of traumatic injury or criminal action at the scene, according to a previous news release.
