IA- Keara Coshow, age 3, killed in a suspicious fire after being left alone by stepmother. 1979.

In 1979, 3 year old Keara Coshow was found dead in a motel laundry room that had been set on fire. Kearas step-mother claimed the blind child spilled paint thinner near a gas heater when she stepped away for 5 minutes. Eye witness accounts from the child's Aunt and sibling suggest abuse alongside drs reported concern from a previous accident when the child was blinded by draino while in the step mothers care. Kearas autopsy also showed signs of previous trauma unrelated to the fire.

Are her "stepmother" or father still alive? Also what did her father do to protect her from ongoing abuse?

This is a very tragic case, but there might be a statute of limitations preventing justice, even if they are still alive (?)

They are both alive, although elderly. Her mother died in January without seeing justice for sweet Keara. There are no statute of limitations for first or 2nd degree murder in Iowa.
