Officials say 20-year-old Kara Crapser was arrested on Tuesday in Lehigh. She's charged in the death of Mikayla Valentine in January. An autopsy shows she died of abusive head trauma.

RIP sweet Mikayla baby. That mugshot is just too scary for words. Very few times have I seen evil peer straight through to me. Definitely feeling it looking at that shot. Shiver. My little girl just turned five in March. Stories like this cut right to the core of me.

Mikayla remembered back in January by neighbors as a little girl who loved playing Princess, but also could get down on the floor and play cars with brothers.

In less than 15 minutes, Kara Crapser, 21, of Eagle Grove, was sentenced to 50 years in prison for killing 5-year-old Mikayla Valentine in January 2011.

Valentine was in Crapser's care when she sustained injuries that led to her death, which was caused by abusive head trauma.

Crapser was originally charged with first-degree murder and child endangerment in April 2011, but on April 24, 2012, she pleaded guilty to second-degree murder as part of a plea deal. The child endangerment charge was dropped.
