On August 11, 2023, around 11:00 PM, Idaho County Dispatch took a call of a missing person who was last seen around 1:00 PM earlier in the day huckleberry picking about 20 feet off the 500 Road, approximately 3.3 miles from Canyon Junction.
Daniel Yeigh, age 64, of Kooskia, Idaho, was last seen wearing a green shirt and Levis with a Folger’s can tied around his waist.
Searching began early morning Saturday and is continuing. During the search, we’ve deployed approximately 45 ground searchers, five dog teams, a helicopter and a drone to search for Mr. Yeigh.
Idaho County Sheriff Doug Ulmer wishes to thank the Latah County Sheriff’s Office dog team, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office dog team, the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office dog team, Grangeville Mountain Rescue (GMRU), the Idaho County Posse, Idaho County Search and Rescue, the Idaho County Drone team, Two Bear Air, and North Central Idaho Amateur Radio Club (NCI-ARC) for their assistance with this search. He also wishes to Bonnie at Tom Cat’s and Subway for their quick assistance in assembling lunches to feed the searchers.

The person was huckleberry picking about 20 feet off Forest Service Road #500, approximately 3.3 miles from Canyon Junction, located about 22 miles east of Kamiah.
The Lolo Motorway, also known as Forest Service Road #500, is approximately 119 miles in length from Kamiah to Powell.
