Shawn Brayden Jones, 24, was accused of shooting Mailee Cooper’s horse, Bree, a 12-year-old American Quarter Horse that she had owned for nine years — and was worth up to $10,000, the Idaho State Journal reported.

he faces up to five years in prison and up to $1000 fine
the fine is pointless IMO that's pocket change to someone who already offered to pay $5000 towards a 'new' horse

IMO she was priceless
and I doubt he'll do significant prison time, even though that's probably the only thing that might put life in perspective for him

He needs jail time but just as important serious therapy. Imagine the immaturity and narcissism of this guy. If someone wants to break up with you or be with someone else, they have every right to leave. You don't control or own them. You feel your anger, but you let them go.

"At one point, Jones’ father asked to speak with the deputy in private, telling him there was no need to shoot the horse, which the family had fed, and that his son was out of control and needed to face criminal charges, the State Journal reported."

Sounds like his father is a decent person who sees what's what.

Sigh and SMH...
I wish laws would hurry up and catch up to reflect what is known about those who harm totally innocent life. (children, the infirm, the elderly, pets, beings that have no say in a situation.) MOO I doubt this is the last time he'll make headlines. AJMOO

Good for his Dad. Major respect for him.

Throw the book at him.
I can't bear to read anymore than the headline
Yes, throw the book at him the SOB
my heart breaks for this lovely innocent horse
and the woman who loved him so much.
Brings me to tears.

MOO, there may be a subtext in the dad's statement that SBH is so out of control due to alcohol abuse ("...shot and killed his ex-girlfriend’s horse in a drunken rage) that everyone is safe only if he's in prison.

Wonder if his lawyer has recommended he check himself into rehab STAT.

How about you all hold his arms, and I'll hit him with the book for a while?

Then we can trade places.

Long ago, but I used to work at a show/training barn. Innocent victim!

Wow, what a piece of work he is. I hope the prosecutor sees this through.
