MAHOPAC, NY — Two Mahopac brothers have been reported missing after a car crash in Idaho. Jesse Ferreiri, 22, and his brother Raymond Ferreiri, 25, we're on a hunting trip Monday with four other people, including two tour guides, when their vehicle flipped over into a river.

The brothers are two of the four people who went missing, News 12 said, with the two tour guides managing to escape.

It's not clear how or why the car went into the river, but authorities have warned of hazards due to snowmelt and recent rains, NBC Montana said.

The vehicle cannot be removed from the river because of fast-moving conditions and high water, officials said.

So, is it possible that they are not missing, but in the vehicle and they just cannot get to it yet? I cannot tell if they think that they may have drifted down river trying to escape and the vehicle is empty or if it is possible that they are in it.

The search for four missing men, including two brothers from the area whose SUV overturned into a river in Idaho, has turned into a recovery mission, according to Idaho County Sheriff Doug Giddings.

"We are still searching for the men, but at this point, we consider it a recovery mission," said Giddings.

Mahopac residents Raymond Ferrieri, 25, and his brother, 22-year-old Jesse Ferrieri, and the two others have not been seen since the Chevrolet Suburban flipped over into the Selway River on Monday morning

Special search units from Idaho and Montana were able to traverse whipping waters and still snow-covered roads using a raft and line to reach the SUV Thursday, but no one was found inside the vehicle, the sheriff said.

The longtime sheriff said he is used to the wilderness and the tragedies that can occur in the wild backcountry.

"We are calling it a recovery, as hard as that is to hear for the families, due to the conditions of the water and the SUV," he said. 'If they didn't drown, they could have gotten out of the SUV and walked to safety."

Giddings said the windows were cracked and the doors were torn, so anyone still able could have gotten out of the vehicle.

Two bodies recovered from Selway River; ground, float search for two still missing
[...]
River and ground searches continue in the search for two New York brothers still missing following last month’s vehicle accident into the Selway River.

[...]

“Conditions are favorable for a body to come up,” said ICSO Undersheriff Jim Gorges, “and so we have to keep on it.”

He said a search on foot is planned for this week, starting from Paradise Camp, which is expected to take four days. A U.S. Forest Service administrative float will assist in the search, and as of press time Monday, Three Rivers Rafting was conducting a float search. Gorges added, Two Bear Air flew the area last Friday, June 15, with no results, and the search area is flown every so often for sign of the missing men.

Lisa hopes the billboards can bring her nephews home, but it’s still difficult for the family.

"They're shattered,” she said. “I guess that's the word. They're completely shattered. They lost two boys."

Lisa knows it will be a difficult task to find them.

"It's endless water out there, one river feeds into the next,” said Lisa.

Lisa remains hopeful from the support she’s seen in both Kamiah and Kooskia.
