Found Deceased ID - Zeke Best, 10-months, abducted by homicide suspect bio father Jeremy Best 41, Victor, 30 Nov 2023 *father arrested*

District Judge Dane Watkins Jr. scheduled the trial to begin on Sept. 15, 2025 in Teton County, Idaho. He was reportedly indicted by a grand jury on Dec. 18 for three counts of first-degree murder and three enhancements for the use of a firearm or other deadly weapon during the commission of a crime.

Best pleaded not guilty to all charges on Jan. 3. On Feb. 28, Teton County Prosecutor Bailey Smith filed a notice stating she intends to seek the death penalty against him.

Adding to this: if he was high and/or in psychosis, he probably wasn't thinking ahead enough to make sure he had diapers, formula, etc, let alone a long-term gameplan to stay hidden. Zeke may have died from dehydration, starvation, etc.
Good points all, @mkl9514.
IMHO, he could certainly be schizophrenic -- in my I-am-not-a-doctor estimation.
He needs help, now & in the long run, of course, but it certainly can be handled in prison, for sure.
What a terrible loss of good people and the agony of those who loved the ones who are gone.

NEXT YEAR?

Smith was pursuing the death penalty in the case but the plea agreement removed the option as a possible sentence.

Best is scheduled to be sentenced on July 23.

I love this picture of Kali & Zeke.

Surprised to hear he pled guilty to 1st degree murder? Pleased for the family though, they will avoid the trauma of sitting through a trial.

He looks remarkably healthier now than when he was first arrested:

Looks like he was able to get clean during his imprisonment the last year. I'm glad he plead guilty and spared the family a drawn out process. He clearly was unwell.

As part of the plea deal, Best will not face the death penalty, reports Law & Crime. Instead, a judge is expected to sentence him to life imprisonment at a hearing scheduled for July 23. The plea agreement came after mediation and with the input of the victims' family members, according to a joint press release from prosecutors in Teton and Bonneville

Jeremy Best and Kali Randall

A 50-year-old Idaho man named Jeremy Best pleaded guilty to murdering his pregnant wife, Kali Randall Best, her unborn child Freya, and his 10-month-old son, Zeke, back in 2023. Randall was found dead in her home in November 2023. Authorities then found Best naked in a sleeping bag on the side of an Idaho Falls road. Near him was Zeke's lifeless body, with his throat cut
