Arkadiusz (also goes by Arek, Eryk or Erick) Wojciechowski, 57 years old, went missing from Chicago, IL after having some health problems. He last contacted his sick mother (who's currently 84 years old and lives in Poland) in 2017. He was lat seen in Chicago St. Ferdinand's Church in October 2017. He said he was going to Florida and would rather not come back, although his mother in Poland received letters from Atlanta, Georgia. His mother reported him missing.

I'm presenting extremely complicated and also difficult case, because of the distance between our continents. Since 2017, a desperate Mother is looking for her son Arkadiusz Wojciechowski (Arek Erick Wojciechowski). In the 90s, Mr. Arkadiusz went overseas as an interpreter - he sailed on ships. This is how he came to Florida and lived in Miami and then moved to Chicago. All these years he did not legalize his stay there, but in the USA it is often not necessary for purpose of work, rent a flat or drive a car...
Due to his excellent knowledge of English in speech and writing, he helped not only Polish but also Mexican families in language education and prepared them to pass the citizenship exam. He also worked in a furniture factory.
Mom visited Mr. Arkadiusz three times. The last time she was there, he was in hospital in Oak Park, Ilinois after a stroke between 2004 and 2005.
He rented an apartment in Chicago, but after he left the hospital, he lost it due to lack of rent payment. The owner replaced the locks in his absence and Arkadiusz Wojciechowski became homeless.
ANAVIM is a home for homeless Poles at the back of the Holy Trinity Church. Mrs. Teresa, the director of the centre confirmed to Mom every few days that Arkadiusz Wojciechowski was there. He received help and support in the centre until 2007, when he moved to the street. Since then, St. Ferdinand's Church in Chicago took care of him.
The period between 2007 and 2017 is foggy. Mr. Arkadiusz mother couldn't visit him anymore because her health had deteriorated. But she was in constant contact with the church and kept receiving information about her child. The pastor of that church still has in mind the request of Mother to let her know about every time he meet Arkadiusz Wojciechowski. Even if it was only a visual contact.
It is certain that in 2017, after the second stroke, Mr. Arkadiusz was hospitalized. It was September. Afraid of high costs of his theraphy, he left hospital without the staff's knowledge. In October 2017, he appeared for the last time in St. Ferdinand's Church and said that he was going to Florida and would rather not come back. That was the last time anyone heard anything from Arkadiusz Wojciechowski .
Mother reported her son missing at the Chicago Polish consulate. She sent letters. One of them came back with the Atlanta stamp. Hence the appeal there, too.
Apparently, the consulate reported him missing to Chicago police.
We didn't get confirmation that Mr. Arek was a subject of any investigations of Chicago police. He's not at the largest American base, NamUs, either. Mother got information from the consulate that they checked hospitals and arrested persons in the state - she is in constant contact with them. Polish consulat claim that they checked everything and have no knowledge about the missing person. The Polish police are not looking for him. The attempt to report the disappearance to Itaka Organisation (like Missing People Poland) was unsuccessful, as this is not a European area.
We ask you to share the post and poster, especially in American groups. And we ask the American Polish community for information: if you know or know where Mr. Arek is staying, please contact us. If you can, print out posters and hang them in parks and places where the homeless are staying. Inform the Polish Churches about the search!
