Investigators believe Tabari Young, 22, was the principal gunman and he was charged Tuesday, McCarthy said. Bryon Champ, 21, who was charged a day earlier, was also a shooter, the police superintendent said.

A suspected lookout, Brad Jett, 22, and Kewane Gatewood, 20, have also been charged, McCarthy said.

No bond for 4 charged in mass shooting at park: 'God took care of them'

Two men in their 20s opened fire into a park on the South Side last week -- wounding a 3-year-old boy and 12 other people -- after one of the men had been grazed by a bullet hours earlier, police said today.

They did not aim at anyone in particular but "just shot into the park" because they believed it was controlled by a rival gang, Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy told reporters.

On 5 October 2019 Tabari Young pleaded guilty Friday to aggravated battery with a firearm, and was sentenced to 21 years in prison.
