Daniel Sotelo, Natally Brookson disappearance: UIC grad student missing, girlfriend confirmed dead — FOX 32 Chicago
<snipped & BBM>
Daniel Sotelo was last seen by his roommate on April 30 near State and Roosevelt.

Loved ones say Sotelo was set to graduate with his master’s degree last weekend, but never showed up. They say this is completely out of character for the 26-year-old.

He was last seen when his roommate dropped him off at the Roosevelt Red Line stop. He said he was heading up north, but didn't say more than that.

[…]

Late Wednesday night, the Cook County medical examiner confirmed [his girlfriend, 22-year-old Natally] Brookson was deceased. The manner of death is pending at this time.

Daniel Sotelo, 26, was last heard from Saturday, April 30, on a train at the station at Roosevelt Road and State Street.

The Chicago Transit Authority station serves the Orange and Green lines on the elevated tracks and the Red Line below ground. A missing persons flyer did not specify where exactly in the station Sotelo was last seen, but UIC did say he was last seen taking a CTA train.

Unfortunately the media hasn’t reported when she was last seen, only that the Sotelo family tried calling her when they realized David was missing and she couldn’t be reached.

snipped:

Brookson went missing on Saturday, April 30. She was last seen at her place of work – Friedman Place, which is a housing community for blind adults – located near Lincoln Avenue and Bryn Mawr Avenue.

A lot of people want to jump to domestic violence but I bet it's gang activity. Do we have Nataly's Facebook?
Definitely a possibility, although it’s hard to say without knowing where her body was found. I don’t believe they had a vehicle, which would mean it’s less likely they were the target of a carjacking or robbery.

I mean, people jump to domestic violence because that tends to be the reason more times than not (at least compared to gang activity).

Why would a gang kill her and leave her to be found and not kill him at the same time?

Agreed. The other possibility is that both of them decided to take their own lives, though that wouldn't jive with the fact her body has been found, but not his (unless she was found in a body of water). Based on the information we have now, which is admittedly little, domestic violence seems like the most likely explanation. MOO.

I made a map. There are two 'last seen' locations for Daniel––CPD lists the location he was last seen as the area of the 1700 block of S. Racine Ave. and missing posters and media reports say he was last seen at 22 E. Roosevelt Rd. (the CTA train station)
