Dismembered body parts found in suitcases in Illinois.

This is creepy.

Police Chief Terry White says the family did not know what was in the man’s bags, but became suspicious when he never unpacked and kept guarding his suitcases.

“There were some early reports of a foul odor coming from the bags,” White said.

The man left the house Tuesday morning and headed to a library, leaving his suitcases behind.

That's bizarre, most murderers want to get rid of the body not take it on a visit to relatives! I wonder what he was looking up at the Library. Moo.

Yikes!

Who thinks it's better to carry a corpse on vacation instead of disposing of it?

Maybe a report of a missing person? imo

From the article...
“The man has not been charged with a crime, but remained in police custody Tuesday night.”
Why don’t we start with abuse of a corpse?

I wonder if we have a thread on the missing woman. She hasn't been named yet. From Louisville.

I can’t find one but she was missing for 30 days prior

As soon as she is named, I will ask a mod to change the title, then, if there is no other thread.

In NAMUS, I'm only finding one female from Kentucky who was reported missing between August 1st and now. She's 51, Black, and went missing from Louisville.

Melvin Martin Jr. has initially been charged with fleeing prosecution. He had been staying with family in Markham.

Martin was arrested Monday at the Markham Public Library after curious family members peeked into the bags that Martin seemed preoccupied with during his stay.

A severed head and other body parts were found in the bags, while police in Kentucky found the woman’s torso.

Martin had been staying with family for about a week, and family members became curious after he asked them on at least two occasions to purchase clothing for him despite arriving on a Greyhound bus in Chicago toting the bags.

Martin eventually moved the two bags to the home’s garage, and the family made the discovery after Martin had left for the library.

The woman was Martin’s girlfriend, and that it appears the woman’s death was the result of a domestic dispute that occurred about a month ago.
