Doesnt sound like it was a cheap necklace. 1AR is unoaerre but they are widely distributed across the world. if LE has a photo of the necklace they should try the unoaerre museum and see if they can identify the necklace model and years it was sold. The company might also have some history on what country they were sold in. http://www.unoaerre.it/en/about-us

Are they going to get DNA on this Jane Doe.Can anyone find out?

Probable that the necklace was purchased abroad.

I wonder why they assume this? The jewelry company is Italian but they have registered trademarks in the US going back to 1969.

Perhaps that particular design wasn't sold in the US, but European release only? No such thing as online shopping back in the good, ol' 80s!

Submitted Jennifer Schmidt. I'm fairly confident this is her, even the jewelry matches.

Just realised they don't have any comparable identifiers - Jane Doe only has fingerprints (not sure how they got prints off skeletal remains) and Jennifer has DNA and dental records, so this may be tough.

Wonder if this one has been resolved? The case is no longer on NamUs.

It is probably her. She was AA but her facial features were ethnically ambigous enough to misattribute her as White.

Could she be Jannette Johnson? I searched for a while and I can't find the exact date or location she was found, just the vague "late 1985". According to this article she was found in Pembroke Township which would fit with JD.

Police to search area where body of victim of 1985 homicide was located

ETA: Jannette’s WS thread: Found Deceased - IL - Jannette Johnson, 29, Kankakee, 3 Aug 1985
Jannette Johnson was a black female . She also has been found and identified.

It was not Jannette, she has also been found and identified.

Per this article it does seem like she was indeed Jannette Johnson.

[...]
Months later, on November 24, 1985, deer hunters stumbled upon Johnson’s skeletal remains in a rural part of Kankakee County. However, it would take decades to make an identification, and in November 2020, DNA proved the body positively belonged to Johnson, according to Kankakee Police Department (K.P.D.) Detective Sergeant Logan Andersen.
[...]
Johnson’s skeletal remains were found partially scattered and partially buried in a shallow grave in a countryside clearing.
