Contreras' family last heard from her sometime in August 2002. She was living in the 1000 block of North Avenue in Aurora, Illinois at the time. She has never been heard from again. Her 1995 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck was later found outside a Target store in the 1900 block of Jefferson Street in Naperville, Illinois on October 4, 2002. Nothing unusual was found in the truck.
Most of Contreras' relatives live out of state and it took some time before they realized she was missing. Her uncle reported her missing on October 3, 2002, about two months after the last contact, and the day before her vehicle was discovered.
Prior to her disappearance, law enforcement had contact with Contreras on July 5, 2002. She was the subject of a federal narcotics investigation, however, no charges have been filed against her.
Contreras was born in Jalisco, Mexico. She had been living in Aurora for about five years at the time, and once worked at a hospital. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance are unclear and her whereabouts remain unknown.
