The Oswego Police Department said Tuesday officers responded to a home after a 911 caller reported that he believed his wife was in danger, saying he had seen a man chase her into their garage on a home surveillance video. The caller said he believed the man was his wife’s ex-husband.

Authorities responded to the west suburban home after Stewart's husband called police to report he saw her being chased into their garage on their home surveillance camera by a man he believed was her ex-husband.

"The investigation determined that Dodd, who was the victim’s ex-husband, followed her as she entered her residence and attacked and killed her with a knife," police said in a release.

A manhunt involving drones and a canine teams ensued after a witness reported seeing man fleeing the area. Dodd was quickly located and taken into custody.

Oswego Police Department has the suspect in custody. He is currently being held at the Oswego Police Department. We are asking the public in those neighborhoods to review any footage they might have from yesterday that shows the subject or the vehicle. There is no danger to the public.

Oswego Police are asking for the public’s assistance in an ongoing homicide investigation from yesterday(Jan. 27th). Specifically, residents of Prescott Mill, Hudson Pointe, and Echelon Oswego are asked to review any home or vehicle surveillance footage that may have captured the pictured male subject or vehicle on Tuesday prior to 1:45 p.m.
Additionally, residents who placed garbage cans at the curb before that time are asked to check in and around their cans and their yards for any items that do not belong to them or were not placed there intentionally. If you locate anything suspicious, do not touch it and immediately call 911.
