MISSING: Oribi Kontein, 26, Last Seen Oct. 26 In Avondale

Oribi Kontein, 26, was last seen Tuesday, Oct. 26. He is missing from the 3400 block of North Avers Avenue, near Roscoe Street. He may be driving a 2016 Toyota Corolla with Illinois plate BB 58715.

Kontein is a Black male with black hair, brown eyes, and a dark complexion.

Family and friends continue to search for Oribi Kontein, 26, who was reported missing from Chicago's Avondale neighborhood last week.

According to authorities, Kontein, a graduate of DePaul University, was last seen on Oct. 26 in the 3400 block of North Avers Avenue.

Friends of Kontein told NBC 5 that he was seen on a city camera parking his car near 31st Street Beach and subsequently walking across Jean Baptiste Pointe DueSable Lake Shore Drive heading west.

Two days later, Kontein's suitcase containing his green card and passport was reportedly found along Lake Shore Drive in his car.

Kontein's friends said he didn't show up to any appointments on Oct. 26 and they are uncertain why the 26-year-old was on the South Side.

Oribi is licensed as "a high energy professional massage therapist" who offers Bodywork and coaching services through Roadside Wellness, according to his profile on massagebook. I wonder whether he had any appointments booked, and if so, how many did he miss? When/where was his last and next appointments? Finally, it seems to me that if Oribi travels frequently for appointments, it's not unreasonable to think he might have been on the South Side to meet a client. I don't understand why his friend's would question the fact that he was there. Perhaps he only visited certain areas. moo I hope he is safe and makes it home soon.

Sadly the body found has now been identified as Oribi Kontein. RIP Oribi.

A body found last week at 31st Street Beach has been identified as a DePaul University graduate who went missing there in late October.

The man was identified as Oribi Zachary Kontein, 26, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. The cause of death is pending toxicological tests, a spokeswoman for the medical examiner's office said.

"Kontein’s body was found this past week after going missing in October. Kontein, 26, loved to swim and was last seen on the afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 26, when surveillance cameras pictured him parking his black 2016 Toyota Corolla at 31st Street Beach and walking west towards Lake Michigan for a dip in the water.

Kontein’s body was retrieved from the lake on Nov. 4 and was officially identified Monday, Nov. 8. The case is currently being treated as a classic drowning.

Kontein had a very active lifestyle; he loved water and the outdoors, and he frequented the lake to swim."
